Appliance Repair Technician - LCL 340 - MIN00866

Center Point Energy is looking for an Appliance Repair Technician to join our Team , located in Minneapolis, MN and Surrounding Cities .

You will have the ability to inspect and service residential electric and gas appliances to ensure safe, efficient operation and code compliance. Develop, maintain and demonstrate related skill proficiency based on changes in products, and/or technology in order to provide service excellence and demonstrates efficient, accurate and productive work practices. Complete record keeping associated with appliance service repair and functions to ensure an accurate information system is maintained; including pertinent repair record information, parts inventory, and payroll time keeping.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Service, inspect and adjust residential gas and electric appliances and equipment to comply with codes and ensure superior service in terms of safety, reliability, customer satisfaction and monetary value. Develop, maintain and demonstrate related skill proficiency based upon changes in products and/or technology in order to provide service excellence. Demonstrate efficient, accurate and productive work practices.

  • Promote and accept accountability for providing superior customer satisfaction and selling of Home Service Plus products and services (e.g., Service Plus contracts, options, maintenance products and Product Sales referrals) to customers. Maintain professional working relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Complete recordkeeping associated with appliance service functions to ensure an accurate information system is maintained. Operate company vehicle safely. Maintain vehicle and parts inventory. Identify and utilize personal protective equipment and tools according to company standards and policies.

  • Perform other related tasks including, but not limited to leak survey related to appliance work, storekeeping, transporting appliances and equipment to ensure the efficient operation of the work unit.

  • Participate in training externally and internally, both field and classroom to increase job knowledge and competency. Advise and assist other employees on the job to provide technical, safety and procedural knowledge.

Your background includes:

  • Require successful completion of a certificate or technical diploma program (minimum of 2 semesters or 3 quarters) at an accredited educational institution in appliance repair, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent technical skills.

  • Requires no prior experience.

  • Have a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record.

A bonus to have:

  • Direct appliance repair work experience.

  • Journeyman Gasfitter’s Certificate of Competency

  • Meet and maintain performance and attendance criteria for the job.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of gas and electric appliances (laundry & kitchen).

  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand electrical schematics and understand electro-mechanical relationships.

  • Able to adapt quickly and respond well to changing priorities.

  • Able to communicate effectively with other employees, customers and industry representatives.

  • Able to possess a valid State of Minnesota driver’s license and have a safe driving record as determined by the Company.

  • Able to comply with Company and industry operating safety standards and regulations.

  • Able to demonstrate and apply a strong customer focus and deliver superior service.

  • Able to manage use of time, work independently and demonstrate initiative to accomplish assigned duties.

  • Able to use mobile phone or radio.

  • Able to use a personal computer or laptop.

  • Able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally.

  • Work rotating shifts, assigned holidays and overtime when required.

  • Work outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions.

  • Handle emergency situations including possible exposure to explosive environment.

  • Able to demonstrate commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, and other Company policies and procedures and do so consistently, take all required training courses and do so timely.

  • Able to demonstrate respect for all individuals, adhere to the Company’s values and business practices and do both consistently.

  • Able to meet all physical requirements, competency-based assessments, pre-employment background checks, pre-employment drug screen and other selection criteria determined by the company.
