Job Summary

Dominion has two (2) Engineering intern openings in the Construction Engineering department at our North Anna Nuclear Power Station. We are seeking Civil or Mechanical Engineering students.

Civil Engineering majors who may be selected would perform the following duties.

• Support Construction Engineering reviews of proposed design modification packages for technical accuracy by performing field walk-downs with craft and reviewing specifications, procedures, and drawings.• Provide guidance to Construction personnel during implementation of design changes.• Draft supplemental work procedures for craft to implement design changes.• Interface with craft, engineering and vendors.• Order materials/ parts for Civil Projects.• Research Civil design drawings and specifications.• Resolve material, design, and field issues with design engineering and construction.

Mechanical Engineering majors who may be selected would perform the following duties.

• Support Construction Engineering reviews of proposed design modification packages for technical accuracy by performing field walk-downs with craft and reviewing specifications, procedures, and drawings.• Provide guidance to Construction personnel during implementation of design changes.• Draft supplemental work procedures for craft to implement design changes.• Interface with craft, engineering and vendors.• Order materials/ parts for Mechanical Projects.• Research Mechanical design drawings and specifications.• Prepare weld documentation, resolve material, design, and field issues with design engineering and construction.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering or civil engineering theories and principles.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills (includes procedure writing).

  • Strong computer skills including CAD

  • Work experience in a shop or industrial environment preferred

  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and codes.

Education Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited program at a 4 year college or university.

  • Must have an anticipated graduation of December 2020 or after.

  • Must have a 2.5 GPA or greater
