Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy Inc. and Florida Power and Light are seeking an Accountant l at the Juno Beach or Miami location. In this role you will report to the Regulatory Accounting Manager and focus mainly on FPL related activities. Specific duties and responsibilities of this role include: • Responsible for understanding and accurately applying Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) specific rules and regulatory principles in determining proper regulatory treatment of FPL’s cost recovery clauses • Responsible for the monthly preparation of journal entries related to over/under calculations of FPL’s Environmental and Conservation cost recovery clauses • Interact with various departments within FPL to ensure amounts recorded in the cost recovery clauses are accurately and appropriately reported • Assist with the FPSC Staff audits as well as answer audit requests as it relates to both the Environmental and Conservation Clauses • Prepare Account Reconciliations for Environmental and Conservation related Clause accounts before month end • Prepare monthly Nuclear Cost Recovery Clause (NCRC) accounting entries and support any NCRC related activities that arise • Coordinate/provide support to annual Environmental and Conservation filings with the FPSC • Prepare ad hoc requests as needed

Job Duties & Responsibilities • Prepares financial reports in a timely manner that are in compliance with GAAP and accurately reflect the financial status of the company • Assures accounting integrity of corporate financial data through the implementation of appropriate internal controls • Independently prepares schedules and journal entries • Keeps abreast of and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relative company policies, practices and procedures • Performs other job-related duties as assigned Required Qualifications • High School Grad / GED • Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance • Experience:3+ years Preferred Qualifications • Master's - Business Administration • Master's - Accounting / Finance
