We are hiring for multiple positions that can report to the following locations: Merrillville, IN or Columbus, OH Offices
Job Summary
The AKM Specialist within the Asset Knowledge Management (AKM) organization will support operational and technical functions. The AKM Specialist will support the GIS Technicians, leadership team, and business partners in designated responsibilities NiSource. The AKM Specialist will be responsible for communicating with business partners, supporting training, implementing and participating in quality assurance practices, leading initiatives, and participating in best practice sharing. Primary focuses of the AKM Specialist include compliance with Gas and electric Standards, company policies, and departmental policy; creating and facilitating training for stakeholders; and providing technical support for internal business partners involved in the construction, operation, and maintenance of company facilities. The Specialist will implement and maintain internal quality assurance and quality control practices, while focusing on supporting key company systems data and records.
M & R/Transmission Specialist :
Provide support and/or training for M & R close out work
Provide support for training key business partners regarding capital M & R work
Transmission mega rule roll out and support
TVC gas and electric standards subject matter representative
Provide M & R facility and property unit insight
Point of contact for large M & R projects
WMS Specialist :
Perform necessary post execution WMS updates
Provide support and/or work management training
Standardize WMS job order QA
Capital Close-Out Liaison for fixed capital adjustments
Critical valve exception management
Primary Capital Close-Out partner for major projects
Troubleshooting of WMS issues
GIS/GPS Specialist :
Update GIS system stored displays
On demand GIS Analysis
Work Area polygon reporting
User acceptance testing for GIS upgrades or projects
Standardize GIS job order QA
GIS map grid addition
Provide logistical support or participation in GIS training
AKM project involvement
GIS Data model change communication
GIS Training and MOC Specialist :
Coordinate training logistics and materials – internal CCO training
Coordinate training logistics and materials – business partner training
Change Management for current initiatives and training updates
Coordinate state plans to improve submission of Jos for EX and GIS
Participate in regularly scheduled and end of year discussions of Capital Close-Out job order request efforts
Work with Planning, Field Engineering, Construction, and Operations to define end of year communication process
Roll out of gas and electric standard changes to Capital Close-Out
Gas and electric standards upstream communications
Pressure test compliance
Service Line Mapping Specialist :
Provide support and/or training for service line mapping
Continuous improvement for service line mapping program
Provide day to day support for GIS Technicians mapping service lines
Seek resolution of service line record issues with key business partners
Track progress of service line mapping program
Day to day leadership for service line mapping contractors
Responsible for Capital Close-Out metrics reporting
Analytics Specialist
Track completed to mapped job order cycle time
Priority pipe reporting
Business partner collaboration for workflow timeliness and reduction
WMSDocs liaison – holds, outages, reporting
WMS property unit to GIS reconciliation reporting
Tableau dashboard configuration
TVC (Traceable, Verifiable, and Complete) Specialist:
Close-Out Tranmission Class Job Orders; transmission line,
M&R, Service (including Farm Taps)
APR Mapping in UPDM/PODs GIS editing
New Construction TVC Compliance, training, and ownership
Transmission Mega Rule Roll Out and Support
Transmission Job Order Tracking
TVC Gas and electric Standards subject matter representative
NPMS Reporting, PODS/UPDM Analytics Support
TIMP Engineering and Major Projects Liaison
Essential Functions
Support data QA/QC practices and process improvement.
Ensure completion documentation meets proposed designs and complies with Standards, local practices, and applicable codes.
Provide support and project/ program management to internal and external business partners to achieve department and company goals.
Provide training within organization and to business partners on technical focus areas.
Lead initiative and best practice identification, development, and implementation within the department and with cross-functional business partners.
Fulfill data requests for leadership and business partners as needed.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert within the program by providing input into Standards, process improvement projects, workflow mapping, and providing data analysis.
Build strong relationships with business partners and collaborate on process improvements.
Be self-supervising with the ability to work independently and thrive in a geographically dispersed organization.
Assist in department financial processes to meet company initiatives and goals.
Required Qualifications For Position
Previous utility company experience
Proven knowledge of WMS, GIS, WMSDocs, and Gas and electric Standards.
Proven knowledge of the design capital job order lifecycle and close-out process.
Demonstrated knowledge of various PC applications and software (i.e. Word, Excel)
Strong cross-functional presence with internal business partners.
Proven history of providing training and presentations remotely or in person.
Knowledge of current field construction practices.
Strong communication skills; both oral and written.
Ability to be self-directed and effective in a geographically dispersed organization.
Contribution to team success through personal and team efforts.
Demonstration of adaptability and flexibility.
Demonstration of high work standards with a quality orientation.
Strong analytical skills.

Valid Drivers License
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or GIS related discipline.
Five years natural gas or electric experience.
Three years’ experience in the Capital Close-Out organization.
Proficiency in corporate digital mapping/GIS software (i.e. ESRI, ArcFM, AutoCAD).
Demonstrated knowledge of gas and electric operations practices and standards.
Demonstrated knowledge of the capital job order life cycle from OP to EX, including job order type uses and complexities.
Working knowledge of support systems WMS, DIS, PowerPlant, OpenText.
Demonstrated ability to query and analyze GIS data.
Proven history of creating and delivering training and presentation experience both remotely and in person.
Demonstrated knowledge of various PC applications and software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
Ability to run and utilize Cognos reporting features.
Work Authorization

Salary Range*:
$79,800.00 - $119,600.00
*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience , as well as internal pay equity .
