Stray Voltage Engineer
WPS, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Stray Voltage Engineer in our Menominee, MI location as well as our Chilton, Green Bay, Oshkosh, Stevens Point, Two Rivers, or Wausau, WI locations. This position offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time spent in the office.
This is a job family (Associate Engineer/Engineer/Senior Engineer) posting where the experience of the selected candidate will determine the level offered.
Job Summary
This engineering position works with Agriculture Program and farm customers in We Energies and WPS electric territory and is the only engineer that works with farm customers entirely. This engineer not only reviews and collects stray voltage data, but also recommends utility changes to reduce contribution caused by the utility. Additionally, this engineer also makes on-farm recommendations for the customers.
Job Responsibilities
Answer technical questions and respond to agriculture representatives, field technicians and agriculture customers.
Perform necessary data analysis, create informative attachments and write Stray Voltage Reports for customers.
Oversee activities and documentation associated with the Agriculture (Ag) Services Customer Requested Isolation program.
Oversee activities necessary for compliance with the Public Service.
Commission requirements regarding stray voltage investigation data and isolation waiver submittals.
Development of project and work modifications to reduce utility contribution levels of stray voltage.
Review and coordinate the Ag Service response to ATC requests and livestock identification and before and after transmission line construction stray voltage investigations.
Review and approve all re-wire applications.
Provide support during storm mobilizations and emergency response events.
Collect relevant We Energies' and WPS’ initiated co-located construction and maintenance project information. Compile the required information and coordinate both ATC and PSCW notification.
Provide engineering support to We Energies and WPS' Legal Department and outside legal counsel regarding claims and litigation associated with the distribution system.
Providing work direction to support staff and handle other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
Valid Driver's license
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Strong analytical capabilities
Candidates must be willing to travel to other plant sites and be willing to be called in during off hours if a problem arises.
Preferred Qualifications
- A professional engineering (PE) license in the state of Wisconsin is desirable.
