The electric vehicle program’s goal is to increase customer’s adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), with particular emphasis on providing incentives for charging vehicles during off-peak hours. New York State passed the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) in 2019 which requires a total of 850,000 EVs to be on the road by 2025. The Long Island share of that goal is 180,000 EVs by 2025.
Each year, PSEG Long Island files a Utility 2.0 plan covering a wide range of topics related to energy efficiency, battery storage, EVs, and other Utility of the Future initiatives. In the most recent filing, the following EV programs are offered:
• Incentives for purchase of qualifying residential smart chargers
• Discounts for charging vehicles during off-peak hours (Smart Charge Rewards)
• A DC Fast Charging (DCFC) credit for qualifying facilities at the end of each year for seven years
• Upfront incentives for “make-ready” infrastructure
• LIPA ownership of DCFC infrastructure, along with leasing back to developers
• A program to encourage Fleet Electrification
The total budget for the above initiatives from 2022 – 2025 approaches $100 million. Overall, the EV program is the largest new initiative for the Long Island RES team in many years and is being closely watched by LIPA, DPS and NYSERDA.
This position is responsible for the overall performance and operations of the EV Program. Manage contracts with key suppliers and the transfer of proprietary data that will enable the Company to better understand the impact of EV charging on the electric grid. Work closely with legal and real estate departments to arrange for negotiated easements on customer property and the associated lease agreements for EV make-ready infrastructure. Work with the marketing department to prepare advertising and marketing materials. Develop methods to streamline and improve data quality. Provide reports summarizing the number of EVs sold and the number of various types or charging equipment, along with load profile data showing the impact of charging on the electric grid
• Supervise the work of three direct reports
• Build relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal Company operations to maintain a safe and efficient system
• Analyze EV fleet performance and its impact on the electric grid
• Promote Smart Charge Rewards program to meet scorecard goals and help customers save on electric bills
• Prepare monthly reports tracking number of EV chargers of various types
• Work with Legal and Real Estate departments to prepare easements for make-ready infrastructure
• Develop leasing program to lease such infrastructure to developers
• Manage the collection and reporting of lease payments
• Manage proprietary data, and develop data management improvements
Job Specific Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant business experience and a strong technical background
• Demonstrated knowledge of electric vehicle programs
•Must demonstrate knowledge of contract management compliance
•Must demonstrate effective problem solving and decision making skills, strong planning and organizational skills, must be adaptable and be results oriented.
•Demonstrated strong process development / improvement and project management skills.
•Must demonstrate clear and concise writing and verbal communication skills
•Must demonstrate strong internal consulting and presentation skills
•Must have proven leadership and coaching skills and the ability to motivate a team
•Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, SharePoint and Visio
•Must have and maintain a valid US Driver’s License with a safe driving history
PE license or Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
Demonstrated big-data analytical experience
Knowledge of T&D systems
Knowledge of Transportation systems and equipment
Experience working with LIPA and DPS on regulatory matters
Six Sigma Black or Green Belt certification
Track record of managing complex multi-disciplined teams and projects

7 years of experience
