Job DescriptionThe Construction Services Technician is responsible for promoting a high level of customer satisfaction through assistance in planning and installation of electric and gas utilities. Working in a team environment you will be responsible for assisting in the design and coordination with the Customer Project Coordinator for the selection of proper materials for new construction, maintenance and replacement of damaged Company facilities. This role works with a variety of internal and external stakeholders on construction related issues. Interacts and is a member of a self-directed, collaborative, and interdependent team.

This position answers contractor and customer inquiries as to construction standards, construction scheduling concerns, general questions and complaints. Finishes paperwork, processes invoices, and ensures proper entries are made.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Performs administrative duties as assigned such as coding invoices, managing mail in/out, ordering and managing office supplies, duties may vary by office.

  • Responsible for updating of new construction and maintenance jobs, installation of meters and closing out of jobs on the various computer systems and updating required departments.

  • Responsible for answering construction calls and provides guidance to customers and contractors regarding work timing and any constraints.

  • Prepares materials lists and material requisitions for prepared jobs, including assigning the proper account numbers to the various material items. Prepares property removal notices. May use estimating program to determine material lists.

  • Prepares billings for damage (claims) to Avista property.

  • May secure necessary permits and locates for construction of facilities, traffic and building.

  • Timekeeping as needed and assigned.

  • May perform some scheduling for small crews.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent

  • Exceptional office and planning skills required.

  • Must possess basic computer skills and ability to learn computer applications. 10 key and Microsoft Office experience preferred.

  • One (1) year of experience in a natural gas or electric distribution related field preferred.

  • Requires demonstrated ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple projects and to work effectively with all parties involved.

  • Specialized job-related training in gas and electric design, map reading and familiarity with applicable codes, tariffs and requirements preferred.
