Purpose

The main functions of this position are to Install, maintain and repair certain HVAC systems under the direction of HVAC Mechanic and/or Senior Manager. Guides and advises customer to select the most appropriate equipment to fulfill their requirements. Responsible for equipment from installation to end-of-service by performing maintenance, warranty and emergency repairs.

Accountabilities

Service, Install and Maintenance

  • Ensuring customer installations compliance with code (16NYCRR Part 261 and Fuel Gas Code) and company standards

  • Installation and service of certain HVAC equipment and related materials

Communication with customers/vendors/clients

  • Verify operational efficiency, checking equipment overall functionality, routine maintenance

  • Disconnecting and removing equipment

  • Parts salvaging and warehouse inventory organization

  • Support of Collections & Billing Department functions

  • Ability to work in confined spaces

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Recordkeeping

  • Create detailed customer install notes and pictures (serials, parts, etc.)

  • Create estimates, material sheets, warranty sheets, customer contracts, etc.

  • On Call/Emergency Response

  • Perform on call duties as required

  • Ability to work weekends, after hours, and on public holidays

Education and Experience

  • Age 18 or over

  • High School Diploma

  • 1+ years of related experience

  • Section 608 EPA Certification

  • Valid New York State driver’s license

  • Physically fit for strenuous manual labor in extreme weather conditions

  • Writing and oral communication skills are required. Must be able to communicate information clearly and effectively.

  • Work requires the ability to use basic math in various technical aspects of the role.

  • Work requires the ability to competently read in order to understand procedures and various instructions contained in technical documents.

  • Work requires the ability to write in order to accurately express information from inspections, findings, installations, etc. and accurately capture data for recordkeeping purposes.

  • Work is widely varied, to include involvement with customers, contractors, vendors, management and accounting. Must learn and understand the interdependency of all company operations and be able to analyze and prioritize situations as they arise on a daily basis.

  • Work requires the ability to make decisions that are within Liberty’s O&M procedures and NY rules and regulations. Must be able to perform duties and functions effectively with minimal supervision.

  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office preferred

  • Previous gas industry experience would be considered an asset

  • Maintain residency within or between one of the following townships after your date of hire: Gouverneur, Heuvelton, Lisbon or Ogdensburg. All exceptions are contingent upon Management approval.

  • Wage: $26.83/hour
