AES Outage Planning Engineer (Electrical) in Martinsville, Indiana

The Outage Planning Engineer II is primarily responsible for scheduled outage maintenance job planning. Job plans must be comprehensively built out complete with inventory (and non-stock) material procurement along with all internal and contracted external labor resources.

  • Performs job hazard analysis (JHA) for mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks

  • Develops work plans and procuring resources that facilitate efficient and cost-effective execution of scheduled outage maintenance, and specific products.

  • Uses CMMS (SAP) for planning and material / labor procurement needs

  • Performs field inspections to determine scopes of work

  • Develops detailed work plans (task lists) for preventative and predictive maintenance plans

  • Updates maintenance plans as needed (continuous improvement), working closely with Reliability team

  • Updates bills of materials (BOM’s) as needed (continuous improvement)

  • Add and remove stock items working directly with and following supply chain process

  • Understanding of plant and asset performance

  • Ability to perform FMEA/FMECA for assets and apply preventative/predictive maintenance practices to proactively address failure modes

  • Develops detailed work plans for corrective maintenance work scope as assigned (may be assigned CapEx scopes as needed)

  • Provides technicians and vendor with required drawing references, manuals, etc. as needed

  • Works closely with the scheduling department to build fully resource loaded, logically driven planned outage schedules

  • Must be proficient with the internal drawing management system and update as necessary

  • Prepares planned outage maintenance reports

  • Uses management of change (MOC) process for controlling modifications to equipment, systems, and processes

  • Instructs and trains less experienced personnel on the technical aspects of the job as assigned

  • Accepts short term assignments at other AES locations

  • Ensure Supply Chain engagement in procurement activities by providing bid specifications to Supply Chain in accordance with the procurement policy requirements

  • Provide generating station support by responding to requests in a timely and cooperative manner, actively participating in technical working groups as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor´s Degree or equivalent level of experience

  • Experience in Thermal and Renewable Electric Utility and Power Generation

  • Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Suite required, SAP and GE APM experience helpful

  • Background in Reliability Centered Maintenance Practices

  • Maintenance and Reliability Professional Certification (CMRP) desirable

  • Experience in project management with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

  • Strong communicator both oral and written

  • Strong platform or public speaking skills for presentations or leading meetings

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others as well as operate with a minimum of supervision.
