Job Summary
Center Point Energy is looking for a LCL949 Technician B, A, or Special to join our Team , located in Luverne / Pipestone, Minnesota.
Job Summary:
Provides quality services and/or products while focusing on customer satisfaction and safety.
Essential Functions:
Performs all duties in a safe manner at all times.
Services, inspects and installs residential and commercial gas and electric appliances and HVAC equipment to comply with codes and ensure superior service in terms of safety, reliability, customer satisfaction and monetary value. Develops, maintains and demonstrates related skill proficiency based on changes in products and/or technology in order to provide service excellence. Demonstrates efficient, accurate and productive work practices.
Maintains and repairs the gas distribution system, including but not limited to gas meters and regulators to assure safe and continuous service to customers. Work will be performed in an efficient, accurate and productive manner.
Promotes and accepts accountability for providing superior customer satisfaction and selling of Home Service Plus products and services (e.g., Service Plus contracts, options, Safety Plus and Home Comfort Sales referrals) to customers. Maintains professional working relationships with internal and external customers.
Responds to emergency situations to assure the safe delivery of natural gas and to maintain public and personal safety.
Completes record keeping associated with appliance service and distribution functions to ensure an accurate information system is maintained. Operates company vehicle safely. Maintains vehicle and parts inventory. Personal protective equipment and tools according to company standards and policies.
Performs other related tasks including, but not limited to leak survey work, line locating, foreign construction work, storekeeping, meter reading, chart changing, transporting appliances and equipment, and fleet and facilities maintenance to ensure the efficient operation of the work unit.
Participates in training externally and internally, both field and classroom to increase job knowledge and competency. Advises and assists other employees on the job to provide technical, safety and procedural knowledge.
Basic Qualifications:
Education:
- Requires successful completion of a 1 or 2-year certificate, diploma or associate degree program (minimum of 2 semesters or 3 quarters) at an accredited educational institution in heating, refrigeration and air conditioning, or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent technical skills.
Experience:
- Entry level position Without a technical degree, minimum of 2 years experience in heating, refrigeration and air conditioning.

Physical Requirements
Able to hear oral communication in person and on a telephone, mobile phone or radio.
Able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, balance, climb, crawl, reach, stand, walk, pull, lift, use fingers and grasp on a daily basis.
Able to exert physical effort on a daily basis.
Able to operate a motor vehicle, including ability to enter and exit vehicle unassisted.
Able to operate a personal computer desktop, laptop or tablet
Able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and/or minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver objects.
Able to distinguish differences between all colors
Working Conditions:
Able to establish residence in the work location. A written agreement will be negotiated between the employee and supervisor.
Able to work rotating shifts, assigned holidays and overtime when required.
Able to be included in a random drug screen pool required for DOT safety sensitive positions.

Compensation Rate: 28.12 Hourly
CenterPoint Energy is required by Minnesota law to provide a good faith estimate of the starting fixed pay rate at the time of posting for the opportunity. This hourly compensation is specific to Minnesota and the pay rate negotiated in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
