The Aerial Foreman leads the crew to complete daily tasks related to product connection for cable or fiber to be placed for service, ensuring crew safety, keeping track of employee hours, completing daily & weekly safety briefings/inspections, and calling in project utility locations. In addition, this role reads blueprints of projects and is responsible for production. This position oversees the Line team and works with personnel from other departments.
Obtain all necessary licenses, permits, and materials for each job.
Oversee, accomplish, and ensure all work quality related to each project and assume full responsibility for its standard and timeliness.
Coordinate and delegate daily tasks to crew members related to digging and placing product.
Gain entry to site buildings for work crew and call in utilities located at each project site.
Facilitate daily toolbox talks and weekly safety inspections to ensure the crews work safely.
Complete all paperwork in a timely manner.
Train new hires and trainees to learn the trade.
Track employee hours, turning them in on time.
Drive, haul, and/or operate equipment to/from job sites to assist crews in completion of work.
Keep the job(s) moving on time, clean up, and perform job restoration at the end of job.
Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
A High School Degree, or equivalent with 8 years of telecommunications experience.
2 years of supervisory experience.
Possess a CDL Class A license.
Understanding of advanced electrical principles, including knowledge of electricity and how to safely work around it.
Knowledge of customer’s specifications, being able to read and interpret prints.
Proficiency in all phases of line construction.
Compliance with proper safety standards, procedures, and work practices according to MasTec and/or project customer, whichever standard is higher.
Ability to talk with customers’ inspectors and have a sense of customer service.
Experience in operating heavy equipment and general construction.
Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.
Precise hand-eye coordination.
Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
Ability to work outdoors, even in extreme weather conditions.
10 or more years of experience.
OSHA 10 certification.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, twisting, reaching above shoulder level, working in confined spaces, working off a pole or in a bucket. Also, this role works in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind for 10 hour work days, with breaks. During storms this role may work in these conditions from 10 to 15 hours daily, breaks included.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
