IT systems engineer to design, develop, test, coordinate, implement, maintain and administer Windows based IT Infrastructure and applications; analyze business/technical and related needs and propose suitable solutions; create processes and tools to enhance and streamline support and maintenance process; create revisions to existing programs, systems and procedures and use appropriate tools to troubleshoot and correct deficiencies.
IT Systems Engineer will participate in the development, maintenance, support and enhancement of real time IT systems applications/infrastructure in support of Transmission and Distribution Operations at Eversource. Possible assignments include some or all of the following: planning, coordination, implementation of operating Systems/product releases/patches, upgrades or changes to real time systems applications and infrastructure. The individual will work closely with IT/Operations to analyze business/technical needs and related issues to formulate and develop or purchase new and/or modified computer programs/systems; create revision to existing programs, systems and procedures and use appropriate tools to troubleshoot and correct deficiencies; and/or reconcile user requirements with existing and/or projected computer capacity, capabilities and performance.
Working experiences in real time mission critical electrical infrastructure environment involving applications such as Energy Management Systems (EMS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distribution Management System (DMS) is required. Experience in IT technology areas, such as distributed systems, infrastructure technologies (Windows server 2016/2019, Windows workstation 7/10, Active Directory, IT Network/Security, relational databases etc.), as relates to real time system Infrastructure is required. Experience in EMS/DMS product suite and technology from GE Grid Solution (formerly Alstom Grid) is a plus.
In addition to exceptional analytical skills, the successful candidate must demonstrate strong customer focus, team membership skills and oral/written communications skills. A proven track record of producing quality products to predetermined standards and specifications plus a desire to learn and apply new skills are required.
