POSITION PURPOSE

The Training Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the competency, proficiency, and compliance of our gas operations and service & metering workforce. This role involves designing, developing, delivering, and assessing technical training programs that align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and the Company's operational goals. The Training Specialist will work closely with the operations, safety, and compliance teams to ensure that operations personnel are well-equipped to perform their roles safely and effectively.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops comprehensive training programs, materials, and resources for gas operations and service & metering personnel, including new hires, experienced operators, and field technicians.

  • Delivers engaging and effective technical training sessions, both in classroom settings and through hands-on field training, covering topics such as gas system operations, gas and electric metering, maintenance, emergency response, equipment operation, customer relations, and safety procedures.

  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to stay updated on the latest industry regulations, standards, and best practices to ensure training content is relevant and aligned with the latest requirements.

  • Monitors and assesses the performance of trainees and provides constructive feedback to help them improve their skills and knowledge.

  • Maintains accurate training records, documentation, and reports to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements and Company standards.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of Operator Qualification (OQ) programs as mandated by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).

  • Conducts regular evaluations of training program effectiveness and makes necessary adjustments to continuously improve the training curriculum.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify training needs, gaps, and opportunities for enhancing the technical capabilities of the workforce.

  • Stays informed about advancements in training methodologies, technologies, and tools to enhance the training delivery process.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • At least three years of operations field experience or Bachelor's degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Strong understanding of gas distribution operations, equipment, and safety practices.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, applicable codes, and regulations as well as OQ requirements.

  • Previous experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating technical training programs, preferably in the gas or utility industry.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

  • Proficiency in using training development software, learning management systems, and multimedia tools preferred.

  • Demonstrates excellent tact, poise, and a respectful, competent manner in relationships with coworkers and customers.
