POSITION PURPOSE

Provide advanced-level programming and analysis with the advanced skills necessary to code, test, debug, and implement new and/or existing programs while increasing systems analysis responsibilities and continuing to develop the programming core. Assist in analyzing, designing, and developing solutions related to existing computer systems, applications, and software. Provide working knowledge of the functional processes within the assigned system(s).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides advanced-level programming and analysis to design, code, test, and document existing and new programs/systems using current standards.

  • Provides timely support and resolution implementation by assisting in analyzing, designing, and developing solutions related to new and/or existing computer systems, applications, and software.

  • Assists other team members with programming techniques and skills to help advance their knowledge.

  • Communicates with end users for direction and guidance on assigned tasks, particularly in obtaining sign-offs of test results, and discusses new information with others.

  • Provides research and recommendations for improvements of existing systems, applications, and programs.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned and requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.

  • Two to five years of relevant development experience.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Willingness and ability to acquire expertise in supporting other programming languages and tools.

  • Familiarity with integration protocols.

  • Strong knowledge of data transformation, data mapping techniques, and creating canonical data models.

  • In-depth knowledge of web service and API creation using both SOAP/REST services.

  • Experience with creating Integration architecture or Enterprise Application Integration architecture designs.

  • Expertise in XML, XSLT, XPath.

  • Proficient with writing SQL queries.

  • Strong experience creating architectural and technical designs.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

JOB LOCATION

The position is hybrid, and office days are in downtown Madison, Wisconsin, where MGE is an active participant in community efforts to preserve the area's extraordinary quality of life.
