Alliant Energy is thrilled to announce a stellar opportunity for a Senior Manager in Information Technology ! As an esteemed member of our Information Technology Leadership Team, you will spearhead our efforts in harnessing customer-centric technologies across various departments such as Utilities Customer Care and Billing (CC&B), meter data management, customer channels, and marketing and communications. In partnership with IT managers, you will discern their needs and pave the way for our product groups to seamlessly implement cutting-edge solutions. These solutions will not only address immediate needs but also align perfectly with our visionary strategic plans and organizational aspirations. This is a hybrid position and will work remotely in our Cedar Rapids, IA or Madison, WI office an average twice per week. Candidates must reside in either Iowa or Wisconsin.

What you will do

  • Responsible for short- and long-range product roadmap planning for product group. Aligns and manages resources to work towards a shared goal to support and implement operational plans.

  • Responsible for standards and delivery of tools/platform solutions/technology services, configuration, and integration.

  • Responsible for ensuring the most effective utilization of product group resources. Leads and coach’s product owners and teams in backlog management standard processes. Defines and prioritizes the group backlog each quarter, transferring priorities to the team.

  • Coordinates with the business to plan, forecast, and schedule work that coincides with operational activities, properly uses resources, and manages costs. Adapts operational plans and priorities to address business and operational obstacles.

  • Responsible to business leaders for development of solutions, scope development, prioritization, and delivery of systems and functions. Develops plans and solutions in a timely and cost-effective manner and is responsible for ensuring the most effective utilization of product group resources across all teams.

  • Provides leadership and direction for the communication and implementation of new practices to increase organizational performance and success within Technology.

  • Provides direction to managers and teams and ensures solutions and development options meet customer needs, are appropriately prioritized and are delivered timely.

  • Provides financial leadership to include development of operational budgets, management of expenses and understanding of the costs of services provided by their teams.

  • Multi-functional knowledge and skill of all company processes and is capable of providing leadership role on both a short team and long-term basis.

  • May be called upon to participate in larger projects and initiatives to provide Information Technology involvement or ownership.

  • Performs all management duties including, but not limited to, budgeting, hiring, performance reviews, coordinating and scheduling work, salary recommendations, ensure employees report to work fit for duty, leadership, grievance resolution, coaching & counseling, models Alliant Energy’s Core Values.

Required Experience

  • 10 years of professional experience.

  • 3 years of project management experience.

  • 5 years supervisory experience.

  • Experience in developing, managing, and driving solutions to diverse and sophisticated business problems that enable business strategies.

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree, STEM degree, Computer Science, Information Management Systems or closely related field.

  • 5+ years of Product Management or utility program experience.

  • Understanding of utility tariff structures. Experience with utility billing products and processes.

  • Proven methodologies for developing great products, customer-led innovation, rapid experimentation, prototyping and measuring outcomes.

  • Demonstrated success in creating a vision to inspire, prioritizing key work, defining and building roadmaps, and managing internal and external partnerships.

  • Experience with professional software engineering standard processes such as Agile project management, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
