POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Business Systems Analyst will provide business expertise and technical production support in identifying and designing improvements to ensure smooth and efficient integration between technical and functional system requirements. The Senior Analyst will provide consultative services to internal stakeholders, including leadership, regarding the identification of best practices as well as supporting the creation of solutions and documentation that best meet the Company’s needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedules, leads, and participates in cross-functional meetings with leadership, peers, and external consultants to understand department needs, identify solutions, and define success criteria.

  • Acts as a subject matter expert in cross-functional teams to provide recommendations for improvement based on new utility industry initiatives.

  • Proactively examines the change impact of process adjustments on people, strategies, systems, and general business operations to determine priority of needs.

  • Translates business insight needs into interactive dashboards to meet business requirements while maintaining technical best practices.

  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to develop and drive solutions to functional and technical challenges around data availability, models, and reporting.

  • Investigates data quality issues, identifies root causes, and suggests resolutions for those issues within and between various systems.

  • Implements changes to existing applications and systems in a fast-paced cross-functional team environment.

  • Participates in planning and execution of testing strategies to validate delivered solutions and satisfy functional requirements.

  • Participates in incident and problem resolution processes as necessary.

  • Leverages data to drive efficiencies in people, processes, and technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems/technology, or related field required.

  • Minimum of seven years of relevant analytical experience preferred.

  • Experience writing and conducting business analysis with data queries through Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle SQL Developer.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and visualization tools (Power BI).

  • Demonstrated experience working with large amounts of data and information in a complex regulatory environment preferred.

  • Experience working in complex implementation or upgrade projects involving multiple parties.

  • Familiarity with Oracle Utilities and/or Oracle Fusion Cloud data model preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced ability to collaborate with diverse sets of stakeholders at various levels to accomplish mutual goals.

  • Solid knowledge of business process/life cycle management principles, theories, and concepts and a general understanding of industry practices, techniques, and standards.

  • Proven ability to be a holistic thinker, be highly curious, and leverage both data and prior experience to present well-justified recommendations.

  • Highly organized with attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately and succinctly document and report to a variety of audiences, including leadership level.

  • Proven ability to interpret, summarize, and communicate critical business findings to senior leadership/executive teams.

  • Proven ability to prioritize and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced, dynamic, service-oriented work environment.

  • Self-motivated with ability to learn new processes and/or systems quickly.

  • Strong internal and external customer orientation.
