Alliant Energy Intern - IT Audit in Madison, Wisconsin

As an IT Audit Intern, you will:

  • Execute IT audit work plans that focus on IT risks and controls

  • Prepare audit work papers that may include flowcharts, narratives, sampling, and computer-assisted audit techniques

  • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of IT controls that affect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems

  • Be assigned to conduct audit tests of key financial reporting controls in the areas of systems access management, change management, data backups, and management of IT job failures

  • Be assigned to at least one or two full-scope IT audit engagements

  • Receive both a diversity of assignments and exposure to key management personnel in the IT organization.

This position will be throughout the 2019 summer - see below for additional details.

  • Pay: Competitive wage earning between $17.00 - $21.50 per hour

  • Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30/5:00 PM

  • Location: Madison, WI

  • Start Date: Monday, May 13th or Tuesday, May 28th

  • End Date: Mid-late August or working 10-15 hours part time during the Fall semester

  • Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related majors are encouraged to apply


  • Must possess basic knowledge of information technology networks, change management, information security, systems development, and data privacy

  • Inquisitive and willing to ask questions about the effectiveness with which information technology risks are being managed.

  • Possesses effective time management and organizational skills.

  • Previous work experience related to this position and/or the utility industry

  • Organizational involvement/leadership experience related to this position

  • A strong desire and enthusiasm to learn

  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment
