Job Description

I am Energy! Are you? Alliant Energy is currently recruiting for exciting college internship opportunities for summer 2024. Join us as we work toward a clean energy future for the communities we serve!

Our internship program empowers you to apply your coursework to challenging and meaningful projects. Join one of 30+ interns between our Iowa and Wisconsin locations in this experience including an executive luncheon, volunteer events, site tours, networking activities and other opportunities. You’ll continue to develop your skills through meaningful work.

• Location: This is a hybrid-remote location reporting to our Madison, WI General Office.

• Start Date: Monday, May 20th

What you will do

As a Distribution System Operations Engineering Intern, you’ll gain a broad understanding of the electric utility industry. You’ll work with various engineering teams and collaborate with other interns. Some projects you’ll complete include:

• Work with the DSO Engineer and Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) team on improvements to our distribution system operations

• Work with SCADA, geographic information systems, distribution energy resources information systems and outage management system

Qualifications:

• We are looking for students pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering

• Preferred: Junior or Senior with completed power systems elective coursework

• Currently holding a GPA of 2.75 or higher

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite

• An active interest, fresh ideas and a desire to learn about the utility industry

• Capable of working independently

• Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment

• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
