General Purpose of Work. Assists, operates, and performs, under limited general supervision, various installation, inspection, and maintenance functions on equipment associated with, but not limited to, odorization, gas analyzation, telemetry, and various maintenance functions in the gas distribution system.
General Duties. Assists and performs work required to operate and maintain odorization equipment. Performs work required to operate and maintain CNG system. Makes repairs to gas flow instrumentation and other telemetering functions. Maintains gate station water bath heaters. Performs work for gas pressure regulation as required. Installs and maintains telemetering equipment where required. Sees that all work is done in accordance with applicable codes, ordinances, Company rules, and standards which apply. Performs other incidental gas distribution duties as assigned.
Qualifications. Minimum of 1 year experience as a Gate Station and Telemetry Repairman - Beginner or equivalent. Must have satisfactory aptitude and learning ability for the duties of operating and maintaining gas odorization equipment; gas measurement, pressure regulation, and analysis equipment; and telemetering equipment. Must have aptitude and prior training in electrical work. Must demonstrate the aptitude and ability to acquire the knowledge to use new equipment, tools, apparatus, and techniques. Must have the ability to communicate readily and understandably in person or by telephone when handicapped by noisy surroundings. Must have and keep a Wisconsin driver's license. Must have the stamina to work outdoors under extreme weather conditions. Must be reasonably available for overtime and emergency assignments. Must have learned and practiced all safety rules which apply to this work including the use of all special protective equipment used in this type of work.
Knowledge and Skills to be Acquired. Must have the ability to obtain all Operator Qualifications (OQ) necessary to perform all assigned tasks. Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of gate station equipment and operating practices. Demonstrates good ability to observe and interpret information available from meters, charts, gauges, instruments, and equipment operation and makes necessary adjustments promptly, properly, and confidently. Acquires and demonstrates tact, poise, and a courteous competent manner in relationships with customers. Demonstrates good ability to make necessary repairs to any equipment in the department. Must demonstrate ability to train and develop other employees in the department. Demonstrates a good knowledge and applicable codes, ordinances, Company rules, and standards which apply.
