We are seeking a highly analytical, data-focused individual to join our Forecasting and Optimization team. They will be responsible for providing business analytics support by analyzing, designing, developing, and supporting forecasting and load research models and characterizing and quantifying historical and future energy use and related customer propensities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides assistance with analysis and analytical strategy development to support the Company's forecasting and energy planning processes.
Identifies and analyzes customer behavior, technological advances, and economic and policy changes to characterize and quantify historical and future energy use.
Develops and analyzes weather normalization models for residential, commercial, and industrial loads.
Coordinates with Public Service Commission on regulatory filings.
Acquires, compiles, analyzes, evaluates, and organizes essential data into formats that provide for its most efficient use in the forecasting and integrated planning processes.
Researches, develops, and recommends for approval proposed computer applications to be used in data acquisition, compilation, analysis, evaluation, and display.
Coordinates and cooperates with others to collect data in the forecasting, rate case, and integrated planning efforts, providing advice and counsel designed to assure it is collected and arranged in specified ways and utilized appropriately.
Analyzes and evaluates the efficacy of new business analysis and forecasting techniques; evaluates the feasibility, benefits, and costs of such techniques for possible use within the Company; submits recommendations regarding their use; and manages the implementation of recommendations as directed.
Coordinates with Information Technology (IT) staff on relevant technology infrastructure and system projects to ensure Forecasting and Optimization needs are appropriately considered.
Builds and maintains data pipeline connections among servers so familiarity with data architectures, ETL processes, ODBC connections, and Linux-based R Server is preferred.
Visualizes data using Power BI, Tableau, and R and possesses the ability to build dashboards, with R shiny experience preferred.
Possesses familiarity with programming best practices, version control, analytical efficiency, data management, data governance, and security are preferred.
Education and Experience
Three plus years of utility experience is preferred.
Bachelor's degree in statistics, economics, mathematics, or analytics.
Master's degree in statistics, economics, mathematics, or analytics preferred.
Experience working with regulators is a plus.
Understanding of Demand Response and energy efficiency programs is a plus.
Three plus years of experience in data analysis preferred.
Experience with R, SQL, Python, or SAS preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
Understanding of econometrics and regression analysis, and experience with Panel models is a plus.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Able to work with all levels of the organization.
Able to work independently.
Conceptual and applied knowledge of computer-based application design, development, and testing as applied to business analytics.
Proficient in using and applying statistical methods, data modeling, and standard statistical analysis and modeling software.
Familiar with using and applying analytic technologies and techniques such as online analytical processing, data warehousing, business scorecards, performance dashboards, and data mining.
Proficient in project management, verbal and written communication, and documentation.
Proficient in SQL coding including the use of Microsoft SQL server tools or functional equivalent.
