POSITION PURPOSE

The Account Representative assists in managing accounts of Madison Gas and Electric Company's (MGE) commercial and industrial customers while building and maintaining effective long-term relationships with clients.

Essential Functions: (As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, these include the following responsibilities, minimum job knowledge, skills, and abilities. This is not necessarily an all-inclusive listing.)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzes energy efficiency opportunities, rates, and service issues to advise customers of available options to optimize energy dollars such as Focus on Energy initiatives. Relays changes to rate structures to customers and calculates potential effect on customer cost.

  • Conducts on-site visits with customers to perform such activities as energy assessments and rate options. Performs post-meeting follow-up such as writing energy assessment reports and coordinating with appropriate Company departments and other organizations to meet customer needs.

  • Acts as the liaison between Latino businesses and MGE. Participates in the LaMovida radio program to promote MGE programs and services. Assists with translating MGE materials from English to Spanish.

  • Collaborates with Company departments and other business allies to identify and address customer needs as well as keep customers informed regarding Focus on Energy programs and renewable energy and energy conservation methods. Promotes Summary Billing, Green Power Tomorrow, Renewable Energy Rider, Backup Generation Service, and View My Energy Use via mge.com.

  • Represents Marketing on internal customer service initiatives and program development to promote customer-focused results.

  • Serves as an MGE representative for community service organizations and business associations. Attends conferences and community events to promote the Company's interests and gather competitive intelligence.

  • Shares responsibility for maintaining the On-Call Emergency Outage Response System to keep key commercial and industrial accounts advised of service interruptions.

  • Promotes and explains Energy 2050 goals to commercial and industrial customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in a technical- or business-oriented discipline or equivalent.

  • Two to four years of work experience in sales/marketing, utility customer service, or equivalent.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Fluent in English and Spanish.

  • Working knowledge of direct marketing, customer service, program development, and project management.

  • General knowledge of electric and gas delivery systems rates, rules, and regulations and energy conservation assessment fundamentals preferred.

  • General knowledge of commercial building mechanics, construction, and design including heating, ventilating, and air conditioning; electric systems; and control systems preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret data to understand customer energy usage.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts in a clear and concise manner to a variety of customers.

  • Ability to effectively work in a team.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Organized with a strong attention to detail.

  • Must have and keep a valid Wisconsin driver's license.
