Position Purpose This position supervises the proper completion of all meter reading processes throughout the LG&E, KU and ODP service territory to ensure timely and accurate billing for all residential, industrial and commercial customers. Responsible for maintaining positive interactions with the contract business partners and with other internal departments. This position is responsible for the training, coaching, safety and development of office personnel and will lead continuous process improvement efforts while encouraging and supporting a participatory team-based environment.
Required Education & Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related discipline is required. Formal training, experience in meter reading and/or field service operations and two or more years of previous supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis, is required. A valid driver’s license and excellent driving record; experience with utility processes, demonstrated interpersonal and analytical skills, organizational awareness and an in-depth understanding of other departments are necessary to the Meter Reading area; Knowledge and experience with CCS, Fieldnet, AMR/AMS, and probe meters as well as Meter Pro and above average proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.
Preferred Qualifications Must have excellent planning and organizational skills with above average verbal and written communication, conceptual, interpersonal and team building skills. Ability to serve in a leadership role and be achievement oriented.
Job Description Schedules work hours, work assignments, and paid time off for Office employees. Ensures training and development opportunities are available for all employees in the department. Completes employee performance reviews and solicits progress reports throughout the year with the employee. Effectively communicates with company management, customers, and employees, both verbally and in writing. Monitors and tracks weekly and monthly metric reports in order to analyze overall work performance and address any shortcomings. Assists in the development of Company and departmental procedures regarding work roles and responsibilities. Works collaboratively with other departments such as Billing Integrity, Meter Assets, Field Service Operations, Revenue Assurance, Residential Services, Customer Commitment, Business Service Center and Business Offices to resolve any meter reading process issues in a timely, cooperative and appropriate manner. Supports the company’s safety policies, practices and culture; routinely demonstrates and encourages safe work practices throughout the organization. Ensures that the office meter reading functions, processes, roles and responsibilities of back office support are maintained on a daily basis in order to meet operational needs in a high volume environment. Provides analysis for departmental metrics on a weekly/monthly/annual basis in order to provide operational reporting. Serves as a technical knowledge resource for the meter reading processes and procedures. Ensures that meter reading office is cross functional in order to cover others off duty. Processes and approves daily/weekly time entry. Prepares weekly, monthly and annual reports summarizing meter reading activities. Analyzes information to identify irregularities in meter reading metrics and proposes solutions for corrective action. Investigates irregularities to ensure quality of work performed. Resolves customer complaints regarding services performed by Meter Readers, Coordinators and Office employees. Addresses, reports, and completes these concerns in a satisfactory and timely manner. Performs other duties as assigned by Manager Meter Reading Processing.
Work Conditions Normal office environment with occasional trips into the field. There is some exposure to weather elements, dirt, noise and animals.
Physical Effort Primarily sitting with some standing and walking and driving motor vehicle for safety inspections and audits.
