LG&E and KU Energy Programmer/Analyst - Associate or Intermediate in Louisville, Kentucky
Interacts with internal clients to determine functional requirements or operating concerns at a conceptual level. Coordinates with more experienced personnel to fully outline needed steps to achieve desired results.
Assists in the development of user instructions, training procedures and other support requirements. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of system documentation.
Assists in preparing detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Designs, codes, tests, debugs documents and maintains simple programs.
Works on select phases of applications systems analysis and programming. Requires instruction and assistance on more complex tasks.
Participates in the evaluation of hardware and software technologies.
Effectively communicates with clients, peers and departmental management in business matters inclusive of those with technical content. Blends technical and non-technical perspectives in verbal and written communications, focusing on the underlying business benefit and/or impact of proposed action.
Follows IT Service Management processes and may serve in the capacity of Change Advisory Board member.
Provides input for quality assurance review of projects assigned.
Participates in a variety of departmental and corporate activities designed to enhance the incumbent’s knowledge of automation, communication, computing concepts, new technologies and the business.

A successful academic or work background indicating a demonstrated ability to absorb information, apply conceptual skills in practical applications, and achieve desired results in a highly technical, operating environment. Ability to effectively deal with the rapid technological and business change while maintaining enthusiasm and displaying sound judgment and common sense.
Training and experience in the use of the following is preferred:
Object oriented programming and design patterns
Experience using C#, Windows Forms, ASP .NET Web API, ASP .NET Web Services
Relational databases such as SQL Server or Oracle
Development tools such as: Visual Studio IDE, SQL Management Studio, or TOAD
Version control systems such as TFS or GIT
Software Development Life Cycle
Experience in the following is desired
Working knowledge of containerized applications using Docker
Developing applications or services with ASP .NET Core
Experience with Visual Studio Code
Normal office environment with some visits to field locations.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, engineering, or related discipline. Zero years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis, is required.
