Overview

Responsible for establishing the work management business processes to ensure safe and efficient execution of more than $400M/yr of electric distribution system maintenance and upgrade work performed by more than 400 internal and external craft workers across 40 operations centers. Establishes the processes that ensure work is ready to execute when crews show up each day and that the work is scheduled in a way that meets all work commitments and maximizes crew productivity. Uses data and analytics to monitor the health of work execution and continuously improve operations to meet performance goals. Manages a team of schedulers accountable for day-to-day work planning and scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Core Responsibilities

  • Responsible for establishing work management business processes used to execute $400M/yr+ of electric distribution system maintenance and upgrade work.

  • Ensures that work is planned in such a way that prerequisites are managed well in advance of execution, and execution is planned far enough out to allow efficient material and outage coordination.

  • Develops work scheduling practices that ensure internal and external work commitments are achieved, and field crew productivity is maximized.

  • Implement key performance measures, controls, and procedures to ensure the consistent application of the work management process.

  • Develops work estimation practices that enable resourcing to be effectively estimated for each work request / work order.

  • Ensures organizational adherence to schedules, milestones, key performance measures, controls and procedures for consistent application across operations.

  • Apply a consistent model to drive resource sharing and provide decision-making and accountability for proper resource shifts.

  • Develops and maintain a learning organization that fosters a high-performance culture.

  • Serves as a champion for business initiatives, including work management systems and software.

  • Works closely with operations teams to ensure that planning and scheduling practices support the needs of the workforce as well as internal/external customers. This may include, but is not limited to, ensuring that development of craft workers is factoring into resourcing decisions.

  • May be assigned an emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work outside of normal schedules.

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of skills and experience on a year for year basis. Experience with contracts and involvement with resource loading and job planning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Business Administration or Organizational Dynamics

  • 3yrs of demonstrated leadership experience, and proven track record of utility line operations management and resource management.

  • Understanding of the current Bargaining Unit rules.

  • Strong Analytical Skills

  • Ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster culture change.

  • Ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance.

  • Business acumen, customer awareness and ability to create value.
