PPL Corporation Lead Supervisor Materials Handling in Louisville, Kentucky

Overview

This position is responsible for leading, planning, scheduling and coordinating the daily materials requirements of the Company's generating assets, promoting safety while ensuring adequate generating support and efficient utilization of the assets and resources necessary to deliver power to Power Generation customers. Includes leading the Material Handling Crew Supervisors assigned to Material Handling and arranging their training in basic skills, operating procedures and reliability requirements.

Responsibilities

•Prepares reports, operating instructions for Material Handling and makes recommendations regarding Material Handling problems. Maintains records of Material Handling operating conditions.

•Leads the coordination of the daily operation of the Material Handling assets to meet plant demands, environmental requirements and business objectives through the coordination and scheduling of equipment outages, material deliveries, personnel scheduling and utilization of resources supplied by other departments and vendors.

•Ensures the safe and effective operation of equipment and ensures production interruptions are minimized.

•Reviews and evaluates daily operating information to ensure compliance with regulations and permit conditions. Ensures proper reporting procedures are followed when conditions warrant.

•Coordinates equipment testing in association with engineers and others to determine efficient, optimum, cost-effective operating practices and procedures.

•Plans and schedules personnel to meet production requirements, assigns tasks, sets performance requirements and expectations, and monitors/measures individual performance to objectives.

•Regularly reviews the status of Material Handling conditions, equipment and personnel performance to assure optimum efficiency and cost-effective operations. Directs corrective action as required.

•Assists in analyzing the root cause for equipment failures and shutdowns. Determines the appropriate practice and procedure to be taken to minimize recurrences.

•Establishes training objectives for Material Handling employees. Ensures that all Material Handling employees are appropriately trained.

•Determines employee development needs and provides coaching, career counseling and development opportunities. Provide vision and serve as a role model for leadership throughout the organization. Demonstrates flexibility and commitment toward rotational assignments.

•Coordinates the review and evaluation of practices and procedures to improve effectiveness and efficiency in the utilization of the Material Handling assets. Ensures safe work practices and proper procedures are followed.

•Develops and reviews employee performance evaluations for Material Handling Crew Supervisors. Takes an active role in managing and improving employee performance.

•Ensures uniform application and consistency of Company policies and procedures for Material Handling personnel.

•Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Associate's Degree or the completion of a two-year technical training program and 8+ years experience in related utility operation, including Material Handling or High School Diploma GED and 10+ years experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possesses written and verbal communication skill with all levels of personnel, skilled at influencing performance.

  • Ability to cope with and implement change.
