LG&E and KU Energy Lead Economic Development Project Manager in Louisville, Kentucky


Job Description:

Provides direction and supervision to the economic development project managers in the areas of company policies, regulatory tariff analysis/interpretation, project/prospect lead assignment, site visit readiness, incentive negotiation, deal closing and all other associated economic development activitiesCreates, identifies and documents economic development processes and guidelines to strengthen knowledge retention, service consistency, and best practices Assists in the development, reporting, and tracking of departmental metrics, the annual business plan, and monthly budgetary expenses and reconciliationsDevelops team member performance evaluations and completes periodic performance reviewsDevelops annual economic development sponsorship requests and prospecting/marketing strategy and associated travel and budget plan Leads and supports the proactive pursuit of economic development projects and site selection efforts (i.e. RFI and RFP responses) Develops and maintains ongoing communication with site consultants, real estate professionals, state and community economic development partners, workforce agencies, governmental officials and other key public/private stakeholder groupsRepresents the company at business attraction and marking events/conferences to promote the company’s service territory for new business expansion and relocationServes as a key contact or facilitator in meeting customer needs or assisting customer with energy related strategic objectivesHelps lead and develop a multi-year economic development marketing and communications strategy along with internal partners, and executes and monitors the planProficiency with Customer Relationship software by developing metrics for direct and indirect Assists in the planning and delivery of current and potential customer engagement and appreciation events Performs other duties as assigned by management

Physical Effort:

Primarily sitting when in office; Frequent standing and walking required when visiting customer facilities or attending conferences to include climbing stairs, walking over uneven ground, work within wide range of temperatures (indoors and outdoors) and a variety of industrial and commercial work environments

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree preferred. Demonstrated understanding of utility business, and related procedures and business practices, commercial/industrial rate structures is preferred. Successful candidates will rely upon their self-starting initiative to think strategically and work to set goals and achieve success with the company’s economic development efforts while providing exceptional customer service. Effective time management and project planning skills; Demonstrated proficiency in the use of database applications, customer relationship management software and MS Office; Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certifications are preferred.

Work Conditions:

Normal office environment with some outside field work; Exposure to a wide variety of field and industrial environments; Periodic overnight travel may be required for economic development marketing efforts

Required Education & Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Public Administration, Engineering or related field and a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in economic development/related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis is required. Demonstrated experience in interpersonal relations, project and people management, and strategic thinking capabilities. Demonstrated proficiency with written and verbal communications, presentations, and meeting facilitation is required. Must possess a valid vehicle driver’s license.

Position Purpose:

The Lead Economic Development Project Manager provides front-line supervision and direction to the economic development project managers to support LG&E and KU Energy’s business attraction and retention efforts. This position provides insight and guidance into the interpretation of company policies, procedures, regulatory tariffs, and business practices impacting economic development projects and potential new customers. In collaboration with departmental leadership, this position will develop and implement team strategies, assists with reporting, community engagement efforts, and oversight of current and potential economic development projects. The Lead role will engage with leaders throughout all levels of the company and state/local government and community officials to promote and represent the company’s economic development efforts while advancing the overall customer experience efforts.

This position can work successfully from any LG&E and KU company location with as needed travel to Louisville for various meetings.
