Overview

Employee will perform a variety of office and/or field duties of a complex, technical nature which include general data entry and maintaining gas and electric distribution systems maps and records.

Responsibilities

GENERAL DUTIES

The normal duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Employee will be knowledgeable of and follow all safety rules, procedures and practices.

  • Employee acting in conjunction with supervision or individually as directed by supervision will assist and/or direct the training of other employees in the correct operating procedures necessary to fully satisfy the classification duties of Facility Records Technician B and all lower classification(s) within the subject line of progression or other duties with which the employee is familiar.

  • Employee will, when directed by supervision, report to assigned locations for the purpose of receiving training and will actively participate in the training activities.

  • Employee will exhibit an adequate competency level pertaining to activities delineated in the Duties and Qualifications sections of this job classification. Demonstrate such competency via performance of job duties and training and testing programs administered at intervals prescribed by Louisville Gas and Electric to assure correct classification of employees.

  • Employee will, during the normal performance of his/her duties, watch for and promptly report to supervision any damaged or defective equipment or conditions which may cause damage or injury.

  • Employee will perform duties of lower or higher classifications that are incidental to the job and are within his/her capabilities including those needed for the purpose of training in the requirements of the higher classification.

  • Employee will keep all equipment, tools, and materials and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Employee will report as directed to any facility for any shift where needed.

  • Employee will perform work in a responsible and cooperative manner to facilitate a positive working environment.

  • Employee will compile information and generate reports, forms and documents as required.

  • Employee will represent the Company to the community with attention to the highest standard of conduct, appearance and attitude.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Duties, which may include, but are not limited to:

  • Employee will perform all the duties of Facility Records Helper.

  • Acting in conjunction with employees of higher classifications, employee will maintain landbase data in the GIS based on records received from governmental agencies, gas and electric field and design personnel, and other sources.

  • Employee will maintain the GIS using various facility maps and records as required by DOT/PSC or Company procedures.

  • Employee will perform quality control checks of data entered in Asset Information systems by others to verify accuracy levels are consistent with best practices.

  • Employee is Accountable for the quality and accuracy of GIS data.

  • Employee will use office records and field surveys to locate existing facilities and plot them on the plans of highway and various other construction projects to determine what relocations and adjustments of facilities may be required.

  • Employee will use electronic document scanning equipment or other equipment as required to complete assigned duties.

  • Employee will work in concert with various departments to update and maintain GIS data.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY INTO:

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Employee must meet all general qualifications of employment.

  • Employee must meet all qualifications as required by Federal, State and Municipal regulations as applies to this position.

  • Employee must be able to speak, understand, read and write English, and be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

  • Employee must have education or knowledge equivalent to that normally represented by satisfactory completion of the requirements of a high school diploma, or equivalent.

  • Employee must be able to learn to use the tools and equipment required in the work.

  • Employee must be thoroughly familiar with the Company Safety Rules and willingly see that they are enforced.

  • Employee must have a valid state driver's license and pass the Transportation Department's driver's test for operating Company vehicles.

  • Employee must be willing to work inside and outside under varying weather conditions.

  • Employee must be willing to report as directed to any facility for any shift where needed.

  • Employee must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job.

  • Employee must possess the willingness and ability to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to advance to higher classifications.

  • Employee must be willing and able to communicate through both verbal and written reports.

  • Employee must be willing to carry through work assignments and must be willing to conduct himself/herself in a manner that encourages cooperation and satisfactory work from others assigned to work with him/her.

  • Employee must have demonstrated proficiency in the ability to perform the duties associated with the lower classification within the line of progression.

  • Employee must be able to lead, direct, and train other employees assigned to work with him/her to obtain satisfactory work results.

  • Employee must be rated qualified for entry into this classification under the Louisville Gas and Electric Company's Employee Performance Review Program and have satisfactorily completed all applicable training and testing programs.

  • Regular attendance is essential for satisfactory performance of this position.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Employee must have minimum experience of 12 months as a Facility Records Helper or the equivalent and successfully completed all training and testing programs required in that classification.

  • Employee must have completed a two-year technical degree, preferably in drafting/design or a combination of related work experience and education in drafting/design.

  • Employee must successfully complete such entry level testing programs as are promulgated by LG&E to measure job responsive aptitude ability to retain knowledge and problem-solving skills.

  • Employee must have proficiency with the Esri ArcGIS platform and end-user clients like ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro or similar GIS applications.

  • Employee must have demonstrated working knowledge of policies and procedures for construction and maintenance of electric distribution facilities and gas distribution, transmission, and storage facilities, including policies and procedures related to facility extensions and customer service.

  • Employee must have demonstrated working knowledge of electronic document scanners, pipeline locators, or other equipment used in the performance of assigned duties.

  • Employee must have demonstrated the ability to meet the public in a pleasant, courteous and tactful manner, and must possess the ability to work cooperatively with other employees, departments, utilities and contractors with which his work must be coordinated.

Remote Work

The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change.
