Job Function Engineering
Position Purpose Provides engineering technical support for aspects of protection system design, settings development, and event review related to Electric Distribution systems.
Position can be located in Louisville or Lexington.
Education & Experience BS in Electrical Engineering required. Valid driver’s license is required.
Preferred Qualifications Three to ten years protection and/or relay settings experience preferred. Educational background and coursework in power systems preferred.
Job Description Design standards for protection equipment implementation and configurations for Electric Distribution Operations.
Maintain documentation detailing protection and control practices for Electric Distribution Operations.
Develop relay settings for Electric Distribution Operations in new installations and system upgrade projects.
Maintain, issue and update relay settings through existing systems (PowerBase).
Implement protection settings and changes in the field, as needed.
Participate in industry groups to evaluate best-practices related to distribution protection design and implementation.
Evaluate and recommend new equipment and emerging technology for consideration.
Perform a variety of routine tasks that will improve the individual’s familiarization with the engineering methods, practices, and programs of the company’s distribution lines & substation organizations.
All other duties and projects as assigned.
Work Conditions Normal Office Environment with regular field work.
Physical Effort Frequent standing, walking, or sitting.
