Overview

This position will perform activities with the planning, execution, and completion of power generation projects like our Mill Creek Natural Gas Combine Cycle (NGCC) and renewable projects, playing a pivotal role in managing the project lifecycle from concept to Commissioning. Expertise in project management, coupled with a solid electrical engineering background, will ensure the project meets technical specifications, budgetary constraints, and timeline targets. This position will balance technical oversight with project leadership to drive efficiency and innovation.

This position will require daily travel to our project sites.

The position will be filled based on the successful candidate's education and experience level.

Responsibilities

Develop and oversee the electrical design and specifications for power generation projects, including power distribution systems, control systems, and instrumentation. Projects include but not limited to new generation (NGCC, Solar, Battery, etc.), environmental compliance, and infrastructure upgrades.

Assist the Project Manager and facilitate the electrical aspects of project planning, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.

Ensuring compliance with design, quality, schedule, and budgetary objectives during project execution.

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, construction managers, procurement specialists, and other stakeholders.

Oversee contractors and suppliers related to electrical equipment and services.

Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory compliance for all electrical systems.

Perform system modeling, fault studies, and reliability analysis for the electrical infrastructure.

Provide technical support for the commissioning, testing, and startup of electrical systems.

Prepare and maintain project documentation, including electrical schematics, project reports, and operational manuals.

Communicate project status, risks, and electrical engineering outcomes to project stakeholders and management teams.

Act as a mentor to less tenured engineers and support staff, fostering professional growth and technical skill development.

Coordinates the activities of Engineer I and II, technician, and/or others assigned to specific projects, as necessary.

Supports various plant operations and maintenance groups with engineering-based troubleshooting, problem analysis, and resolution.

Assists with the development of station/engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.

Plans and controls all activities to provide an accident-free workplace.

Conducts work activities in accordance with environmental rules and regulations.

Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.

Directs the activities of cooperative interns, bargaining unit employees and others, as instructed, as they perform various activities including installation or checkout of new equipment, troubleshooting, testing, tuning, etc.

Performs other duties as directed by management.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements

ABET accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 3 years of experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power generation projects or NGCC and/or renewable project experience is preferred.

Strong project management skills with a proven track record in leading sizable electrical engineering projects.

Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and CAD tools.

Extensive knowledge of power systems, electrical machines, and national electrical codes.

Solid understanding of control systems (DCS), PLCs, and SCADA systems.

Exceptional analytical, organizational, and technical skills.

Excellent communication and leadership abilities with experience managing teams.

Commitment to continuing education and staying current with industry trends and innovations.
