Job Description:

Continue to promote and build the company’s culture of safety throughout all activities, projects, assignments, and work processes.Use mathematical and analytical methodologies to solve business problems.Plan and conduct analyses that identify cost reduction opportunities.Analyze large amounts of data to interpret patterns and trends, assess data quality, and eliminate irrelevant data to draw data-driven conclusions for business decisions.Utilize data and results/trends to help evaluate and provide support for project/large scale program development.Support data driven requests as requested for inquiries from regulatory bodies, industry surveys, etc.Create metrics and measures for stakeholder utilization.Construction and hands-on development of analyses, business intelligence (BI), and reporting solutions.Implementing and configuring reporting technologies like Power BI.Proficient with SQL for databases.Design, build, integrate, and redesign existing reports for maximum usability.Drive automation capabilities into reporting solutions.Deliver data-driven recommendations by applying sound analytics.Establish credibility and strong working relationship with stakeholders.Consulting with internal and external customers on their analytical needs.Act as a business resource for IT related projects and initiatives as requested.Promote analytics best practices in the department.Assist with the development of department and customer goals, including setting objectives, budgeting, program development, continuous improvement, and standardization of processes.Perform other assignments and projects as directed by management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in computer sciences, engineering technology or related subject or demonstrated practical and applicable utility experience may substitute in lieu of an advanced degree.Natural gas utility experience with knowledge and experience.Knowledge of analytics best practicesUnderstanding of the root cause failure analysis process.Excellent written and verbal communications skills capable of accurately and clearly communicating complex technical information to all levels of customers. Experience presenting to groups and technical report writing a plus.Ability to work with and advise a variety of personnel including engineers, management, technicians, contractors, co-op students, supervisors, consultants, colleagues, etc.Interpersonal skills that are customer-focused, able to motivate others and constructively get results.Adaptable to varying priorities and customer needs, including time critical projects that require immediate attention, travel to the plants, and periodic overtime.Organizational aptitude for simultaneously managing multiple projects, long-term strategies, assignments, administrative responsibilities, historical records, and daily requests.Self-motivated and able to work productively with minimal supervision.Be familiar with personal protective equipment.

Work Conditions:

Position will normally work in an office environment, except when occasions arise to visit work in the field.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering technology or related subject and minimum of 1 year of experience in an analytical position. Experience with Excel and Microsoft SQL Server, SharePoint and PowerPivot.Proficient in two or more of the following: Microsoft Power BI, R, Python, C#, Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), or SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). Valid driver’s license required.

Position Purpose:

This position within the LG&E Gas Operations department will provide data analytics services and support natural gas system operations. Responsibilities will include answering complex data analytics questions, building, and maintaining Gas Operations data model, and fulfilling requests for dashboards and reports. Pipeline Safety Management Systems is a customer focused centralized resource department that strives to provide expertise and standards to support reliable, cost effective, and safe operation of natural gas assets. Work is conducted in the office and field environments.
