LG&E and KU Energy Associate Federal Regulatory & Policy Specialist in Louisville, Kentucky


Job Description:

Actively monitors all FERC, NERC, and other selected federal agency information through review of agency, industry groups, and news information sources to spot regulatory/policy developments that may impact the Company.

Administers and keeps current FERC and NERC monitoring and tracking data repositories (currently using SharePoint); ensures the information in the data repositories are up to date with all regulatory/policy developments the Company is tracking.

With input from more senior specialists/managers, analyzes the nature and extent of impact of reviewed regulatory/policy developments on the Company. Assists in the development of an appropriate communication plan (manner, mode, and timing).

Provides continuous improvements in and adaptation of the repositories to the needs of the department and Company.

Under the direction of more senior specialists/managers responds to inquiries from internal customers on routine federal regulatory/policy matters, providing information on key regulatory/policy issues as required or requested.

Under supervision, provides coordination support to the lines of business in the Company’s involvement in industry trade groups and other external organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Law degree or previous work experience in regulatory or public policy arena a plus. Paralegal training with extensive relevant experience considered. Quick and motivated learner who enjoys being part of a team.

Required Education & Experience:

A bachelor’s degree in in public policy, political science, economics, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the federal regulatory or public policy arena on a year-for-year basis. Proven ability to expeditiously and accurately review, organize, analyze, document, and communicate about large quantities of detailed technical, operational, policy, regulatory, or legal information and material under strict time constraints. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, multi-tasking, and written and verbal communication skills.

Position Purpose:

Under immediate supervision, this position is responsible for providing support, analysis, and coordination in federal regulatory/policy matters as part of the Federal Regulation & Policy team. Responsibilities include tracking, researching, and analyzing new regulatory policies and initiatives impacting the Company; maintaining a data repository of all tracked issues; effectively communicating relevant information and analysis within and outside the Company; and performing other department projects.
