LG&E and KU Energy Accounting/Finance Intern in Louisville, Kentucky
Must have a basic understanding of financial, accounting, and budgeting theory / principles.
Compile monthly variance reports for Opex, Capex, and Servco.
Meet with Group Leaders and Managers to reforecast coming months for all expenditures.
Meet with Group Leaders to calculate and track accruals for outside labor and material received during the month
Perform detailed analysis of cost expenditures on current or past substation projects and sort into appropriate categories. Cost data will be obtained from Oracle and Powerplan and then exported to Excel for analysis.
Assist in cost forecasting on a monthly basis for current substation projects.
Assist with opening AIP’s for new projects and opening projects at the start of each year.
Assist in tracking project purchase orders for equipment and services.
Actively participate in project meetings and communicate to other departments.
Performs other duties as directed and assigned.
Primarily sitting, with optional walking and standing.
Normal office environment.
Required Education & Experience:
Currently enrolled in school full time (at least 12 credit hours) pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Minimum 3.0 GPA
Must possess strong computer skills and experience with Excel spreadsheets.
Familiarity with PowerPoint and Word are desired.
Good communication skills are a must, both written and verbal.

This intern position is responsible for a variety of accounting/budgeting duties within the Distribution Substation Department. This position will be part-time ( 20 hours/week) during spring and fall semesters and either part-time or full-time (40 hours/week) during summers. The Company will be flexible in the part-time work schedule (8am-5pm - Monday-Friday) based on the student's class schedule.
