Become a Senior Manager of Supply Management Procurement and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will be leading a team of up to 8 sourcing and contracts professionals in Southern California Edison’s (SCE’s) Supply Management organization. You will be responsible for managing and overseeing a range of categories grouped into the functional area of Direct Material Procurement - which includes engineered apparatus, electrical equipment, materials and components, chemical and gases, steel structures and associated services.

In addition, you will build and deliver long-term strategies and projects to meet Organizational Unit (OU) business partner and operational needs. This includes: Developing overall spend procurement strategy for the group, synthesizing category specific strategies and prioritizing areas for engaging the Strategy Project Manager; developing quarterly, annual and multi-year strategy roadmaps; refreshes based on changing business needs and vendor landscape; setting and delivering overall category savings and vendor management targets; communicates and aligns on strategy and targets with Principal Manager, Director, VP, Ops services; proactively engages OU leadership as a strategic partner; participates in strategic vendor negotiations, relationship management with vendor; participates in (and leads at times) procurement related decision making meetings.

  • Make, recommend, and/or approve employment decisions (e.g., hiring, promotion, appropriate pay, rewards/recognition, succession planning, and termination). Manage employee performance for direct and/or matrixed reports.

  • Establish performance expectations and goals aligned with Company objectives, policies, and procedures.

  • Promote the Company’s safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.

  • Sets strategic direction for the team, including leadership development, capacity building and individual development to deliver comprehensive sourcing solutions and value propositions.

  • Lead contract management strategy and organizational change in collaboration with OU business partners and stakeholders.

  • Regularly interface with executives to gain buy-in and alignment on end-to-end supply chain contracting.

  • Lead and direct contract negotiations with suppliers and supplier performance.

  • Plan, develop, recommend, and implement enterprise-wide supply chain policy and procedures ensuring Company-wide adherence. Accountable for regulatory compliance (e.g., NERC-CIP, audits, SOX, NRC, DOA, safety and environment). Lead direction and execution of Supplier Diversity Program (DBE) initiatives to meet established Company goals and objectives.

  • Willingness and ability to travel 10-40% in support of client and departmental programs and projects.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


The essentials

  • Five years of experience managing/supervising/leading a team of sourcing professionals in negotiating contracts, strategy, and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM).

  • Experience leading engineered apparatus and electrical component sourcing strategies.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.

  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) Certification, or Certified Professional in Supply Chain Management (CPSM) Certification, Certified Professional in Contract Management (CPCM) Certification, or Project management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.

  • Experience using the Agile procurement methodology.

  • Experience with purchasing and negotiating contracts with vendors.

  • Experience with financial planning and managing large and complex budgets.

  • Experience with SAP and ARIBA.

  • Strong leadership, communication and negotiating skills to build consensus with stakeholders to develop and maintain partnerships with support organizations and senior management.

  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills.

  • Work Mode: Effective January 2022, this position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
