Location
This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to the Livonia Service Center located in Livonia, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
General Summary of Responsibilities
The Senior Manager Supplier Diversity and Sustainability is responsible for developing, implementing a strategy that ensures the organization's category strategies and practices are diverse, equitable and inclusive. This role will focus on identifying new and established diverse suppliers who have demonstrated the performance capability of the category can meet the needs of the category. This role will focus on establishing, fostering and managing strong supplier relationships with minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, LGBTQ +-owned and small businesses while measuring performance to key performance indicators for respective categories. They will work in partnership with Supply Chain Category Management & Supplier Quality Team, the Strategy & Sustainability and External Affairs teams and other stakeholders to develop and execute diverse supplier strategies and sourcing activities. Responsible for Supply Chain's Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) program development and oversight and will be responsible for Consumers Energy's diversity reporting for the federal contracting program where applicable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the Supplier Relationship Engagement strategy, managing the vetting and onboarding of new suppliers.
Lead reporting, analytics, and compliance of diverse spend (Tier 1 and Tier 2).
Prepare reports and insights for internal and external stakeholders, including executives and board members, ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate reporting requirements.
Advance the maturity of the Tier II reporting program and collaborate with design and communications teams to convey supplier diversity efforts.
Create, prepare, and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual supplier diversity spend reports, tracking and reporting Tier 2 spend from Tier 1 prime suppliers.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices and participate in networking and benchmarking opportunities among supplier diversity professionals and organizations; represent Consumers Energy at industry roundtable discussions.
Integrate knowledge gained into work practices.
Benchmark and implement practices to drive inclusion and equity within the category strategy. Define KPIs and analyze performance to measure the effectiveness of inclusive sourcing.
Collaborate with senior leadership and external stakeholders to develop diverse suppliers.
Create outreach strategies for event attendance and sponsorship to maximize visibility and outcomes for the Supplier Diversity Program.
Serve as the representative of Consumers Energy at events, a highly visible role.
Maintain knowledge of major procurement activities and develop strategies for identifying potential suppliers. Provide category-centric information to the department.
Ensure company policies and strategies regarding diverse supplier inclusion are aligned with execution strategies to achieve targets.
Manage the Supplier Diversity program enterprise-wide.
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert on supplier diversity efforts.
Develop short- and long-term strategies supporting the company's commitment to Supplier Diversity, Inclusion, and Sustainability.
Maintain strong relationships with advocacy groups, supplier councils, and community engagement organizations.
Other duties as assigned or necessary.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Planning, Business or other liberal arts degree with seven (7) or more years of experience advocating for, communicating and leading change within an organization; storytelling for impact; monitoring, analyzing and communicating data trends related to program performance; building and leading cross-functional teams within an organization; supply chain, procurement and experience in supplier diversity; knowledge of sustainability and ESG-related practices in supply chain; advocating for underrepresented groups and/or community engagement.
OR Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Planning, Business or other liberal arts degree with nine (9) or more years of experience advocating for, communicating and leading change within an organization; storytelling for impact; monitoring, analyzing and communicating data trends related to program performance; building and leading cross-functional teams within an organization; supply chain, procurement and experience in supplier diversity; knowledge of sustainability and ESG-related practices in supply chain; advocating for underrepresented groups and/or community engagement.
OR High school diploma with eleven (11) or more years of experience advocating for, communicating and leading change within an organization; storytelling for impact; monitoring, analyzing and communicating data trends related to program performance; building and leading cross-functional teams within an organization; supply chain, procurement and experience in supplier diversity; knowledge of sustainability and ESG-related practices in supply chain; advocating for underrepresented groups and/or community engagement.
