The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. We are open to discussing salary expectations with qualified candidates considering factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location will all be considered during the hiring process.

Senior Storage & Backup Administrator | Pay Range: $84,800,000.00 - $109,450.00

Storage & Backup Administrator II | Pay Range: $76,000.00 - $96,900.00

Are you ready to play a critical role in managing and securing the infrastructure that powers the grid? At Southwest Power Pool (SPP), we’re looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Storage & Backup Administrator to join our dynamic Data Governance Team.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Storage & Backup Administrator at SPP, you are both a technical expert and a strategic problem solver. You thrive in a high-stakes environment where data integrity and system reliability are paramount. You're motivated by challenges, take pride in delivering solutions, and understand the critical role infrastructure plays in supporting the Bulk Electric System.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day operations and long-term evolution of our enterprise storage and backup environments. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Monitoring system performance to ensure high availability and proactively identifying potential issues.

  • Responding to incidents and resolving issues quickly through effective troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

  • Managing capacity and provisioning resources to meet current and future business needs.

  • Overseeing backup and recovery operations , ensuring data protection and business continuity.

  • Performing routine maintenance and patching , keeping systems secure and up to date.

  • Collaborating across teams , contributing to infrastructure-related projects and ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals.

  • Serving as a Subject Matter Expert , mentoring others, and leading infrastructure initiatives.

  • Participating in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support when needed.

To be successful as the Programmer Developer, we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology related field, or equivalent experience

  • Senior Level: Six (6) years system infrastructure support experience

  • Level II: Three (3) years infrastructure support experience

  • A technical certification approved by the Supervisor of Data Governance is required, or the ability to obtain one within six months of hire. Examples of acceptable certifications include (but are not limited to):

  • Azure Fundamentals, AWS Cloud Practitioner, FlashArray Storage Professional, Microsoft Technology Associate, Red Hat System Administration I (course completion certificate), and EMC Specialist (DECS).

  • The incumbent’s experience must demonstrate intermediate to advanced computing and problem solving skills

  • An intermediate to advanced knowledge of data storage solutions, backup/recovery methods, and hardware and softer system installation, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting and repair is required

  • Knowledge of local area networking as it pertains to systems configuration is required

  • Ability to convey written and oral communications are essential

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Scripting skills are preferred

  • Advanced Storage administration skills with certifications

  • Familiarity of Remedy, Jira, vulnerability remediation and AD integration with hardware

  • Working knowledge of Block, NAS, content storage and protection philosophy’s

Position Type, Location, and Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Little Rock, Arkansas. Days and hours of workweek are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.

Travel Requirement:

  • This position requires minimal travel (approximately 10%)
