MISO Energy Market Design Analyst (I - III) in Little Rock, Arkansas

Position Location: Carmel, Indiana; Eagan, Minnesota; or Little Rock, Arkansas

As our Market Design Analyst (I - III) , you will be responsible for analytical and economic studies on overall power market and operation performance, efficiency, behaviors, and the impact of market rules. You will also investigate and make improvements to market models and algorithms.

Additionally, as our Market Design Analyst (I - III) , you will be part of a great team that will propose, design, develop, and evaluate new wholesale electricity market design initiatives and impact to market structure due to industry evolvement. You will also have the opportunity to influence outcomes and improve processes.

In one year, you will know you’re successful if:

  • You successfully perform analytical and economic studies on overall power market and operation performance, efficiency, behaviors, and the impact of market rules.

  • You can thoroughly analyze and provide support for evaluations of market structures, outcomes, and the periodic reporting of market status and results.

  • You are forming a deep understand the mechanics of the MISO market systems and how they fit together.

  • You coordinate internally and externally to communicate results, resolve issues, and implement improvements.

Our next Market Design Analyst (I - III) will be an experienced engineer who has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering technology, electrical and computer engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, or electronics and computer engineering technology.

  • Specific experience within any of the following: energy market forecasting and analysis, power system analysis and operation and associated software development, statistical and econometrics analysis, market design, optimization algorithms (required)

  • Working knowledge of data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g. R, Eviews, SAS, Python, VBA, Tableau)

  • Experience working with power engineering tools (e.g. PSSe, PowerGem, Plexos, PowerWorld)

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
