GIS Technician Lead
Starting Pay Range
$32.84 - $41.06
CORE COMPETENCIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Job Technical Skills – Assists with leadership support of assigned department staff and in performing advanced-level design projects related to GIS/CAD including, development and implementation of new software and hardware, integrated workforce development and overseeing work of assigned staff, conducting field research, department budgeting, implementation and maintenance of departmental standards, and other GIS/CAD-related programs and policies.
Leads department staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, providing input on performance evaluations, monitoring employee performance, and assisting with hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations.
Leads large, complex projects for area of assignment. This includes researching project viability, how best to approach and/or build the project, arrange or perform testing of the project, and implementation of the project. Oversees the work of project staff to ensure work is done according to specifications and expectations.
Serves as subject matter expert and acts as a liaison for both internal and external customers, providing recommendations or assistance regarding GIS and CAD technologies, policies and processes, capabilities, or operations to establish and implement solutions.
Completes field survey of projects. Inspects, collects, and verifies data. Labels electrical facilities for use with GIS/CAD system records per LES procedures. Completion of these duties may require the opening and inspection of energized, high-voltage electrical equipment or entering electrical substations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates degree in Architectural Engineering Technology, Geographic Information Systems, geography or related field, and
Five years of GIS/CAD design, 3D Modeling experience, or
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Knowledge of power generation, electric distribution preferred.
