LES is a publicly owned electric utility serving the greater Lincoln, Nebraska area, with a primary commitment to delivering cost-effective, dependable, and sustainably sourced electricity to its customers. Our Geospatial Design team works closely with our Building & Grounds, Engineering, Power Supply, Construction, and Technology teams. We focus on the creation and the accuracy of our Building Information Models, Designs, and Power Supply facility records. These business deliverables are essential for our stakeholders so they can make informed decisions that benefit our rate payers. Due to this increasing demand for resources we are restructuring our team to add additional leadership roles to help support our customers. Currently, we're seeking a leader who understands electric utility operations and Power Generation. This leader should be able to execute on the our vision for integrating business systems and aligning them with current and future technologies.

Work Environment - In this role, the typical work week comprises of five days, primarily spent in the office. However, flexibility is integral, and occasionally, the schedule may involve four days of office work and one day dedicated to fieldwork. Field assignments involve traveling to project sites to review construction work. There also is a business need to survey assets and LiDAR scan facilities. This team is actively engaged and collaborating closely with both Engineering, Construction, B&G and Operations teams.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for oversight of the Geospatial Design team. Responsible for the development and establishment of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Computer aided design (CAD) standards, project review, and BIM/CAD content management. Overall responsibilities include leading staff, delegating work, budget support, program, and policy development, and setting tactical goals and objectives for area of assignment. Assists with the coordination of emergency outage and storm response for assigned staff, which may include off-duty hours, when necessary.Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

CORE COMPETENCIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Supervises staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, monitoring employee performance, ensuring staff members are trained and cross trained, resolving conflicts, and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. 

  • Supervises staff in the development, administration, and implementation of technologies in building and utility records documentation and storage. Includes but is not limited to, Computer Aided Drafting/Design (CAD), Building Information Modelling (BIM), and applications employed by future projects. 

  • Provide guidance and technical expertise in spatial data and technology integration across multiple technology platforms.  

  • Responsible for reviewing design projects to ensure compliance with LES standards and electrical connectivity requirements.  

  • Maintains a variety of corporate and divisional records utilizing applicable software and systems.  Ensures accuracy of data being maintained by area personnel.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Proficient in 3D modeling and CAD design software.

  • Strong Electrical Distribution knowledge.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s degree in related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred, and

  • At least five years of experience in area of assignment, or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
