CORE COMPETENCIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Responsible for the oversight of engineering standards and technical activities concerning the asset management activities of the overhead and underground distribution system, transmission system, and streetlight facilities. Specific responsibilities include supervising staff and the development of budgets, goals, and initiatives. Assists with tactical decision making and strategic planning for the department. Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

  • Development and monitoring of construction and design standards for the transmission, distribution, and street light facilities.

  • Directs the distribution planning studies to determine short-term and long-term needs of distribution and substation facilities summarized in annual Energy Delivery capital budget plan.

  • Develops asset management models and analyzes the data to determine risk-based equipment replacement strategies.

  • Provides centralized process and engineering support for design teams in regard to LES based procedures, programs and standards.

  • Develops and implements policies and processes for area of assignment and assesses risks related to policies and department activities.

  • Works with the creation and implementation of various asset management programs impacting overhead and underground distribution and streetlight facilities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field, and

  • At least eight years of progressively responsible engineering design experience, or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Professional Engineering license preferred and/or obtained within 36 months.
