LES is a publicly owned electric utility serving the greater Lincoln, Nebraska area, with a primary commitment to delivering cost-effective, dependable, and sustainably sourced electricity to its customers. We're looking for someone who loves working with Building Information Models (BIM) and is familiar with Autodesk's Construction Cloud and BIM360 offerings. In our BIM-CAD team, we collaborate closely with our Building & Grounds (B&G), Engineering, Power Supply, Construction, and Technology teams. Our main focus is creating accurate Building Information Models, Designs, and maintaining records for our Power Supply facilities. The ideal candidate should be proficient in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks. This individual will be the go-to person for our B&G team and will be responsible for creating and adjusting Revit models and developing & maintaining the LES Revit Family libraries to support the development of our Revit models. This position would also be responsible for collecting field information utilizing Matterport and other Lidar based technologies, though previous experience with these technologies is not a requirement.

Work Environment - In this position, you'll typically work five days a week, mostly in the office. However, flexibility is key, as projects may call for three or four days in the office and one or two days dedicated to fieldwork. Field assignments include providing updates on job site status, attending contractor progress meetings, and collecting existing site conditions as needed.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for performing advanced-level design and duties related to the Geospatial business systems including creating and maintaining documents and records, assisting in setting project priority, conducting office and field research, and assisting engineering staff with design projects. Leads large, complex special, unique, or one-time projects. Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

CORE COMPETENCIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Serves as the subject matter expert in Geospatial related work. Ensures staff are trained in proper work practices and procedures. Monitors work quality and provides guidance on software, systems, and SharePoint sites. 

  • Assists engineers, field staff, B&G, internal customers, and consultants in a project management role to review all engineering, Facilities and Geospatial work for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and quality expectations established by LES. 

  • Provides advanced technical support for staff in drawing research, project redlining, gathering technical data from geospatial business systems, equipment, and processing of As-built return information. Reports any design or record discrepancies and adverse facility conditions to appropriate personnel. 

  • Supports field surveys of projects and facilities utilizing survey equipment including LiDAR scanners and applicable software.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Advanced proficiency with Geospatial software, Microsoft Office applications, and understanding of specialty software like (Recap pro, Faro Scene, WebShare, AutoCAD Inventor, and Revit or similar.)

  • Ability to apply advanced knowledge of electrical wiring design principals.

  • Ability to apply advanced knowledge of architectural and engineering design plans.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s degree in in architectural engineering technology, Energy Generation Operations, or related field, and

  • At least five years of GIS/CAD or drafting experience, or

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

  • Knowledge of power generation and power plant operations preferred.
