Accountant/Settlements Analyst

NMPP Energy, located in Lincoln, Nebraska is seeking a Settlements Analyst to join our dynamic team. Use your skills, experience, and talents to provide independent verification of settlement statements and invoices received or issued for day-ahead and real-time activities in the energy markets.

The Accountant/Settlements Analyst supports the mission of NMPP Energy by:

Reviewing invoices and settlement statements for energy and transmission activities, reviewing statement of activity for counterparty activities/transactions. Verifying that charges, calculations, and other information is correct and balances with internal records while researching and resolving discrepancies, calculating amount of dispute if applicable.

Compiling information for energy imbalance reports and monthly losses, and checking these with the appropriate balancing area.

Preparing journalization for market invoices and settlement activity and send to Accounting for inclusion in financials.

Gathering and verifying meter data, entering data, and confirming submittals to markets were processed successfully.

Creating reports and providing data and support to management and staff to assist in analyzing market activities and risk.

Compiling and preparing monthly invoices for certain Participants, sending data to Accounting for processing and inclusion in financials.

Gathering daily statement charges and entering in invoice tracking file for verification.

Gathering hourly data and providing data to modeling and planning teams.

Participating and representing MEAN-s interest in stakeholder groups and industry organizations, incorporating market changes, and communicating potential impacts to management and Participants.

Skills & Qualifications You Need

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in accounting or business and 3-5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel.

  • Ability to use and develop spreadsheets that include complex formulas and macros.

  • Knowledge of databases and energy tagging system/software desired.
