Overview

Directs, coordinates, and supervises the daily activities of engineers responsible for regulatory and compliance activities. Responsible for the planning, coordination and technical direction of all NERC compliance related activities for both CIP and O&P 693 standards. Accountable for direct supervision, coaching, mentoring, safety leadership and technical guidance to assigned staff in support of producing high quality, timely and cost-effective solutions to technical and business objectives. The position is also accountable for the technical quality of the group's output and is expected to continuously improve capabilities in this area. This position makes decisions guided by policies, procedures, and business plan. Typically, does not perform the work at the level being supervised, but will have individual technical and business-related assignments in support of department goals and special projects.

The position can be located in Louisville or Lexington, KY.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, direct and/or assist with organizing and prioritizing work group activities, assigning and/or scheduling work duties in accordance with applicable compliance standards, including NERC CIP and O&P 693.

  • Evaluate direct reports for the purpose of developing organizational talent and building expertise in areas required by the department.

  • Develop leadership skills and coordinate technical training aspects for self and group members.

  • Work with other departments on cross-functional technical and business teams, working groups or committees to achieve goals and objectives of the department and company.

  • Assist in the development of changes in methods or processes in assigned area of responsibility and make recommendations for implementation.

  • Leads team members and other departments to respond to potential cyber security incidents, to provide forensic investigations to respond to and recover from any verified cyber intrusions.

  • Supports regulatory audits through detailed preparation and presentation of evidence for all applicable entities (SERC, etc.)

  • Oversee the Transmission Substation Cyber Security strategies that align and support the OT security governance criteria established by the Company. Works to ensure the designs and systems are protected by adequate and robust systems.

  • Represents organization at industry groups and regulatory conferences as necessary.

  • Evaluate workload, manpower requirements, and technical abilities to identify and recommend resourcing strategies to achieve objectives.

  • Support the development of section and department goals and metrics.

  • Elevates and reinforces a strong safety culture within the work group, through daily leadership, communication, and behaviors to eliminate personal injuries and losses.

  • Set priorities to ensure task completion and coordinates work activities with other supervisors, acting as a liaison with other sections or departments.

  • Perform special tasks, initiatives, or projects assigned by manager.

Qualifications

Requirments

ABET Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering with an emphasis on NERC compliance activities and audit functions.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction to technical and non-technical personnel

  • Sound judgment, technical insight, and strong initiative to direct other engineers on resolution of complex issues

  • Strong verbal and written communication and influencing skills

  • Ability to work well with individuals on all levels of the organization.
