LG&E and KU Energy Billing Integrity Team Leader in Lexington, Kentucky


Job Description:

Responsible for the overall day to day supervision of the activities of the Billing Integrity Department.

Supervises and mentors all billing associates, including the training and development of these employees.

Must be able to work well as a team member, manage internal and external relationships, and exercise professional judgment.

Assists in the gathering of data and the preparation of the required reports.

Assists in the development and implementation of new projects and procedures as needed or required.

Assists in the training, development, and advancement of personnel.

Calculates and explains complex account information to internal and external customers and serves as the expert for internal and external customers to resolve billing errors.

Maintains expert working knowledge of Rates, Rules and Regulations for furnishing electric and gas service for the Company.

Works closely with customer facing and other back office personnel to resolve customer complaints related to billing.

Researches accounts and obtains documentation necessary to assist in the company’s response to PSC complaints.

Performs management functions in the absence of Department manager.

Monitors work schedules to ensure adequate daily department coverage for department activities.

Schedules the destruction of records based on governmental regulations.

Ensures proper accounting procedures are followed for all customer accounts.

Performs duties related to Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Performs other duties as assigned by Manager-Billing Integrity.

Primarily sitting with optional standing or walking.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in business management preferred. Knowledge of different computer systems and corresponding applications to company activities. Prior experience in complex billing methodology, process analytics or utility rate designs is a plus. Previous supervisory experience.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, communications, business management, or other relevant discipline and a minimum of five years’ experience which includes three years’ experience in a regulated environment utilizing SAP/CCS or other applicable experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis, is required. Must possess exceptional communication and people skills with the ability to deal effectively with internal and external customers. Problem solving skills are a must. Must be able to work successfully in a stressful and diverse work environment. An individual in this position must have the ability to multitask and take ownership of and resolve identified problems.

Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for assisting the Department Manager in the operation of the Billing Integrity Department, ensuring adherence to Company practices, supervising billing analysts, accumulating and reporting on statistical data. In addition, this position will be responsible for coordinating various projects and adherence to documented departmental processes. This position is responsible for mentoring billing integrity personnel and assisting in the training and secession planning for the department to ensure that the department can proficiently perform all necessary functions.
