Developmental Intern - Plant Safety
The Developmental Intern will assist with ensuring close out of any audit findings (NYS Fire Marshall, AEGIS); work with site Planners to create Job Hazard Analyses for high risk tasks; finalize site Confined Space Program (audit locations and permits, create binders for supervisors, ensure proper signage); attend monthly safety committee meetings and assist with action items; assist with any injury investigations and corrective actions; conduct chemical inventory and work with Environmental Dept. to minimize inventory. The anticipated results for Niagara will minimize overall worker risk at the Project.
Become familiar with the process of hazard identification and implementation of corrective measures
Develop a working knowledge of Job Hazard Analyses and how they minimize worker risk
Obtain an understanding of the importance of injury investigations and prevention of future incidents
Computer skills - Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel.Knowledge of OSHA regulations, JHAs (Job Hazard/Safety Analyses), accident investigations
Works well with others, able to communicate clearly and effectively with craft and management, strong verbal and written skills
Risk management and reduction.
It is preferred that the students be entering their 3rd year of college with a minimum 3.0 GPA for participation in this program.
