Job Description

The intern would work under the guidance of a Niagara Project Management (PM) Staff Mentor assisting in the day-to-day management of Contractor personnel to ensure that their assigned scope of work is satisfied in accordance to the contractual agreements. The successful candidate would assist with various Civil, Mechanical and Electrical projects managed by PM Staff.

  • Develop communication skills with Engineers, Contractors, Supervisors, Plant Personnel, etc.

  • Learn construction installation techniques, coordination requirements, sequencing, etc.

  • Develop their understanding of engineering drawings, design criteria, construction deliverables, etc.

  • Develop their understanding schedule and budget requirements for construction projects.

  • Understand the design and theory of the installation they are overseeing

Required Skills

Technical (including computer applications):

  • General principles of Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

  • Microsoft Office Applications

  • Ability to Pick-Up Site Specific Software Applications (i.e. Microsoft Outlook, PowerNet, SharePoint, etc.)

  • General knowledge of construction methods and ability to read technical drawings

'Soft" Skills (behavioral characteristics):

  • Good written and oral communication skills. Detail oriented.

  • Willingness to take direction.

  • Ability to communicate well with others.

  • Punctual.

  • Self-starting and motivated

Required Experience

It is preferred that the students be entering their 3rd year of college with a minimum 3.0 GPA for participation in this program
