The Party Chief will report to engineering staff and the PLS in order to plan, schedule, coordinate, research, review and conduct field survey work as it relates to the Engineering & Design Group. The Party Chief will be involved in the field operation of both 2-man and 3-man crews, as well as liaison with CADD/engineering staff as required to properly interpret filed data, and be able to conduct the following tasks and responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a primary departmental resource to plan, schedule, coordinate, research, review and direct and perform daily survey field and office work, as required, including the ability to conduct and/or direct the survey operations.
Oversee the daily operations of field survey crews in an accurate and technically sound manner and identify and coordinate project requirements with field personnel, engineering staff and clients, as required.
Identify and report potential design conflicts to Engineer/Designer.
Perform field/office calculations and supervise and review work plan in a manner that promotes safe, economical operation, which adhere to accepted survey/engineering practice and standards.
Negotiate Timeframes for crews to perform work.
Research, review and prepare and issue all associated field-related data in a timely, thorough and professional manner.
Work with Client to solve engineering and construction issues that arise in the field.
Comply and adhere to electrical distribution safety rules as well as follow Company safety rules and all other Company policies.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Under no circumstances is the incumbent allowed to work within the minimum approach distance, or direct crews work methods and procedures

1. ATTENDANCE - Must be available for work the daily hours as required by utility’s work schedule and until completion of the restoration work and released by the utility.
2. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Education: High school degree or GED required.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ industry experience with an emphasis in Math Sciences, Electronic Data Collection, GPS, and Boundary Record Interpretation
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
A valid state driver’s license is required, CST (Field) Certification Preferred .
ON-THE-JOB TRAINING AND/OR REQUIRED ITEMS/TOOLS:
The following items are required for this role prior to reporting to duty. Items marked will be furnished by Pike Engineering: Vehicle Reflective Vest (Class III) Hard Hat Binoculars Safety Glasses Surveyor’s Tape EH Rated Hard Toe Boots
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or the business community.
Working knowledge of Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret spread sheets.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Additional skills and/or abilities include the following:
Ability to read and follow distribution circuit maps.
Ability to utilize binoculars, cell phones and two way radios
Must be physically capable of walking out power line right of ways under various weather and terrain conditions. Weather conditions may include snow, ice or high heat/humidity. The terrain conditions may include but are not limited to, off road rural areas in swampy or over grown right of ways or mountainous terrain.
While performing this job, the noise level in the work environment is loud noise.
