Job Summary:

GENERAL SUMMARY/PRIMARY FUNCTION

Responsible for making our #1 critical success factor, safety first, a priority in all tasks and activities performed by self and all others involved. Assist in the administration of project safety program to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Assume professional safety role and promote safe operations.

  2. Assist in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities.

  3. Identify, document and recommend resolution of hazardous/potential hazardous conditions; follow through to insure corrections have been made.

  4. Assist in supervision and administration of safety, compliance and training activities.

  5. Participate in investigation and documentation of near misses, accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities.

  6. Compile data, photographs, etc.; prepare all pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, local regulations associated with accidents.

  7. Conduct various industrial hygiene samplings, such as gas, 02, noise test to insure safe working conditions.

  8. Issue various entry permits (i.e. to confine spaces) as required.

  9. Assist in conducting employee/craft and insurance inspectors on walk through tours. May accompany federal, state and insurance inspectors on walk through tours.

  10. Assist in emergency rescues as required.

  11. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Educational and experience requirements include: Occupational safety/health degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or industrial related safety experience. Thorough understanding of all federal, state and local company regulations. Ability to recognize hazardous situations & recommend corrective measures is essential. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must have OSHA 500 minimum, prefer CHST.

Key Skills & Competencies

Requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule. Advanced knowledge and skills in the use of various Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential. Must maintain confidentiality and contribute to a team-oriented work environment.
