Department Summary

The Field Administrative Team Leader will:

  • Align with various stakeholders within Gas and Electric Operations.

  • Provide oversight and governance over the Field Administration function ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed with respect to O&M time coding, overtime and callout events.

  • Oversee the administration of core administrative tasks including but not limited to accounts payable, purchase card reconciliation, Driver’s Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) form 664 coordination, mail services, compliance reporting, facility coordination and personnel support of operations managers within Operations Services and Energy.

  • Provide oversite of property restoration customer interactions and on time completion of orders.

This position is available to work from one of the following Consumers Energy Service Centers in Michigan: Grand Rapids, Jackson or Lansing.


  • Overseeing a mix of up to 20 Non-Exempt and Contractor employees.

  • Maintaining and properly processing all Equivalent Straight Time (EST) and Time Coordination, Property Restoration and all Field Administrative duties.

  • Planning, organizing and coordinating business operations which involve program specific clerical operations and/or any combination of administrative services with oversight over administration of core administrative tasks including purchase card reconciliation, OM&C timekeeping, equivalent straight time calculation, property restoration coordination, storm logistics, mail services, compliance reporting, personnel support of operational meeting rooms and operations managers within Operations.

  • Leading and optimizing administrative, property restoration and equivalent straight time team processes.

  • Will be required to have a storm restoration support role.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or an applicable field of study.

  • Less than a Bachelor’s degree may be acceptable if accompanied by extensive Company or industry experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.

  • Two or more years of applicable experience.

Essential Functions

  • Business Support Advisors and Consultants support the planning, business analysis, general management, budget preparations and analysis, negotiations, transactions, customer services and auditing of a wide variety of business functions and processes of specific operating and support areas throughout the Company.

  • Lead and/or assist with business analysis and support for the plans, reports, impacts, contracts, schedules, estimates, data collection, observations, and field investigations.

  • Provide business analysis and support services with accuracy, on time and under budget.

  • Use computer assisted applications software and equipment to prepare business analysis support documents.

  • Understand and follow Company established standard procedures for file structure and standard procedures for projects.

  • Become familiar with business and department and Company plans and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately.

  • Assist in client contact and communication.

  • Utilize effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers, clients, or the public.

  • Public involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders.

  • Attend internal and external meetings.

  • Provide business analysis and support services in a legal and ethical manner.

  • Individuals should exemplify safe work practices and follow the Company’s compliance standards.

  • Regular attendance is expected.

Hours and Travel

  • This position requires the individual work 40 hours per week with 90% of the time spent in the office or specific field locations.

  • This position may require the ability to travel between field locations throughout the State of Michigan.

  • This position may include nights and weekend/holiday timeframes.

  • Individual must have a valid driver’s license.
