Lakeland Electric Event Support Staff in Lakeland, Florida

This is a flexible position with flexible duties and responsibilities for daily operational and event related activities in accordance with RP Funding Center policies and specific event requirements. Daily operational activities may include monitoring access to and exiting of the facility, securing restricted areas, maintaining building safety standards, monitoring facility control systems, daily patrols and assisting operations staff as needed. Event activities may include greeting and directing guests to proper entrances and seating areas, monitoring non-ticketed events, monitoring guest safety, traffic and parking control/activities, securing/monitoring restricted areas, maintaining crowd control and assisting in handling patron problems as they arise. This position will be able to work in the capacity as a cashier, parking attendant, security/crowd control, property protection, usher and ticket taker. Work is typically assigned on a daily basis and is carried out through verbal and written instructions and reports to designated Supervisor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: * Greets and welcomes guests, ensures that each guest entering event facility has a ticket for that event. * Reads each ticket for correct event, date and time.If incorrect information occurs on ticket, the guest should be directed to the proper location for assistance. * Assist patrons in directing to correct seating per ticket information. * Reminds guests of the no re-entry policy on ticket stub and directs emergency requests to the proper location for assistance. * Provides guidance to guests in regard to handicapped seating, lost and found articles, restroom locations and specific event information. * Responsible for maintaining a smooth flow of traffic into facility and performing searches or inspecting articles as required. * Keeps railings, walls, aisles, stairs and other areas free of congestion as determined by assigned area. * Monitors crowd for adherence to building safety standards, smoking, cameras, food and beverage policies and specific event requirements. * Directs traffic and parking relative to lot opening and closing, parking assistance and collection of and handling of payments. * Handles minor problems and guest complaints in a calm, professional, courteous and timely manner. * Assists in maintaining building safety standards. * Assists with setting up of turnstiles and unchaining doors prior to and at the close of each event. * Monitors access to and exiting of the facility, secures restricted areas and conducts daily patrols. * Maintaining shipping and receiving procedures such as checking in, storing and delivering packages. * Opens and closes Center during non-event periods. * Monitors facility control systems such as security cameras and lighting. * Patrols center monitoring for damages, equipment operation, or trespass and report or address situations as they are noted. * Assists event set up activities as needed. * Assists maintenance activities as needed. * Expected to follow the established dress and behavior codes. * Required to perform other duties as special or emergency situations and event requirements dictate. * Attends training classes to keep up to date on building policies and procedures as required. * Coordinates with clients and/or event managers to address and fulfill event needs. * Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including long nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays as needed. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: * Performs related work as required. * Position may be designated as Mission Critical by Department Head. QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE) AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: * High school diploma from an accredited school or its equivalent. * One (1) year of industry experience of events related to concerts, trade shows, meetings, and/or Broadway musicals. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: * May be required to obtain and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license. * Must maintain a valid telephone number. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions. * Knowledge of basic mathematical skills. * Ability to multi-task. * Ability to adhere to building policies and event requirements. * Ability to interact with fellow employees and the general public in a positive and professional manner. * Ability to lift objects up to twenty (20) pounds. * Ability to stand for long periods of time and climb stairs as required to assigned areas. * Ability to remain alert and observant in order to prevent accidents, safety problems and illegal entry into the facility. * Ability to handle stressful or emergency situations for guest and personal safety. WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Involves walking, standing, stooping, reaching, stretching, exerting up to twenty (20) pounds of force on a recurring basis and routine keyboard operations. * The job risks exposure to loud music, pyrotechnics, extensive hours during peak season, no significant environmental hazards and bright/dim light. * The job requires normal visual acuity, field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of smell, depth perception and texture perception.
