INTERN, SUBSTATION DESIGN (La Crosse, WI)
Hourly Wage: $26.00 | Anticipated Start Date: May 27, 2025 | Internship eligible under Dairyland's Engineering Internship Program (EIP)
The Intern, Substation Design is responsible to assist the Substation Design Department in the study, design, documentation, and implementation of various projects related to substation civil and structural design.
The Impact You'll Make In This Role:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Assist with current projects that may include research, creation of working drawings and completion of as-built documents
Assist in ground grid design and testing
Assist in distribution and transmission station physical design and drafting
Assist in department standards and record keeping
Assist in the creation of a standardized distribution substation material inventory
Assist in the creation of CAD standards and templates
Perform other duties as assigned
Your Experience and Expertise:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education & Experience: Student pursuing a field in civil, electrical, mechanical, engineering or engineering technology fields. Prefer basic three-phase power knowledge or experience. Power production and transmission knowledge is beneficial.
Skills: Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), and computer competencies notably using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, etc). Ability to communicate effectively written and verbally.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid Driver’s License

Environmental Demands: Will reside mainly in an office environment with occasional visits to substations, switching stations or generation stations.
Other Job Characteristics: Occasionally interacts with other utilities, plant and maintenance personnel and vendors. Work under limited supervision in a variably paced, variable pressure work setting. Must be able to work in a team-oriented setting.
